He was THE focal point of the heat defense. They geared up to stop him and said let’s see if Kevin and Russ can beat us. They couldn’t.

He didn't start a game though. How many top 50 players haven't started a Finals game?

this is a bad look. when you go this route. I’m sure you can find something better than “he didn’t start a finals game”

It was a legitimate question, but I think I've answered it.

Chris Paul has never started a Finals game either, and he's better than Harden, ergo, Harden isn't the best player to never start a Finals game.

If both their careers end today you would have to go with harden. Paul at his peak wasnt what harden is now. Harden has more playoff successes. 4 time top 2 mvp guy. Etx etx.

Wrong.

Paul in 2007-08 and 2008-09 was better than any two year stretch Harden has put together, including the last two years. It's also no surprise Harden's career vest years come with Paul at the helm.

hardens season will be remembered for a long time. Gina will win Bc the east has been shut out for so long. Gina has a really strong case so I can’t hate on him. But harden has had a historic season. Gina will win his bc of team success that stems from the weakest SOS in the NBA in 6 seasons.

This is just a reminder that, once again, the MVP won't be announced until a week after the finals.

and by then no one will give a shite.

The MVP debate is fun. Giannis or Harden should be able to display that award to their crowd at a home playoff game.

Yea just pick the amount of years you want.

Paul never had a one year stretch like this.
He never had a three year stretch like this. Or a 5 year stretch. Yea go with 2 bc that the only one that gives you what you wanna see.

I love CP3, but this is a bad take.

That’s an incredible stat graphic. I hate Harden and your Rockets, but he’s the MVP

It is probably the best offensive season in league history. And he was more than solid on D. That don’t matter to the voters though. These east coast writers grew up fans of east conf teams and they have been the butt of jokes for so long this is their chance to say look at us we don’t suck anymore we have a great team and a player with a great mvp case. I don’t think there is bias against hardwn specifically as much as it just finally a chance for a east guy to win it after so long.

Paul's single year in 2008-09 is better than Harden's anything. Substantially higher WS, higher WS/48, higher VORP.

Paul's also been a markedly better playoff performer over his career.

Harden is an overrated mediocre volume shooter. The only thing he does at an elite level is free throws. His 3 point shooting is literally league average yet he has well over 200 more 3 point attempts than the guy with the second most. His EFG% is 54.1%. The League-wide Average is 52.4%.

For comparison:

Greek Freak 59.9
Steph 60.4
Durant 57.1
LeBron 56.0
Klay 55.3
Kawhi 54.6
Buddy 56.0
Kyrie 55.7

You musta missed where he is more efficient than any player who has scored anywhere to close to as many points as him. Free throw? Lowest free throw rate since his first or second year in the league. Gina is more of a i depend on free throws to score than hardwn is.
