I'm pretty sure the word "resume" simply means "good wins". If this is incorrect, then what have I missed, because I have only heard it used in that context for like I don't know, my entire adult life.

If this is correct, then can we just use the terms "quality wins" instead of a loftier-sounding, and thus needlessly misleading, reference to their "resume"?

To continue something after a pause of indeterminate length.

The term "resume" refers to a team's "body of work" which includes quality wins and losses.

Agree, OP's a moron, he'd get destroyed in an argument with his erroneous interpretation of "resume"

You don't know what alter means.

One thing I have noticed about arguments over which teams have the best "resumes" is that opinion is decidedly more divided than arguments over which teams pass the much maligned "eye test" by simply having looked dominant when people watch their actual games.

People seem to hate it but ironically also seem to agree much more than with any other metric.

The only standard that people are really going to agree upon -- because it's the only one that can really be distilled into an answerable question -- is who beats who tomorrow on a neutral field. Polls should be guided by that question and that question alone.
