I think I heard he didn't pick up tennis until he was like 13, but I could be wrong. Either way he seems really determined to succeed.

I'm an admitted Fed fanboy here, but darn good for Milos. Way to go and he earned it. The fact that he has Johnny Mac coaching him makes me like him even more. Hope he can whip Murray in the final (i'm expecting a Murray blowout in the other SF).
Hard to feel sorry for RF, though it is difficult to see a great champion diminished. And, really almost anyone else to be #3 in the world would be hard to say they are diminished, but that's how great Fed has been. I know I'll be sad to see him go, but I almost wish he would move on off into the sunset at this stage, or at least after the US Open this year. Doesn't look like another slam is in the works.

Imagine if Milos Raonic***** didn't completely suck at the game of tennis.******
Then here is me with the absolute truth bomb

This is so overblown on this board. Milos has a top 20 forehand and an above average backhand as well. He also moves extremely well for a big guy. He knows he has a monster serve, so his game plan is to be as aggressive as possible on groundstrokes, in order for his opponent to feel absolutely no rhythm.

He does not move extremely well for a big guy. Janowicz moves extremely well for a big guy. Raonic tries to avoid tripping over his own feet as he awkwardly plods around the court. Above average, as in better than the average 4.0 player? Maybe.

you two spout so many very emphatic opinions on here, each of you is bound to hit a few duds.
i was pleasantly surprised with the resolve Milos showed. he was calm out there.

Really wanted to see fed pull this out. Props to roanic. Hard to go toe to toe with someone almost 10 years younger, especially after a long 5th set match in the previous round
milos' serve was on point today

I had the dvr working for this match....will it be a fun match to watch?
Short rallies, some big serves, serve and volley, chip and charge?

Murray up two sets now on the eternal quarter/semifinalist.

Quick points for sure. Federer was serving with pinpoint accuracy almost the whole time. You could skip the first 2 sets and not miss much.

The masses are split on this and whether the larger frame helped. IMO, larger frame and older Fed definitely has a better backhand. The serve is a wash, though I can understand the perception that the larger frame gave it a boost in his old age. He sprays the forehand more now than ever, though that may not all be the fault of the stick.
My intuition, coupled with the unfortunate fact that I am older than Fed (but not by much) tells me that top end serve speed is only going to decrease from your prime going forward, but that the decrease is going to be pretty slight and of little practical significance. It also tells me that serving accuracy wont' change at all. This is especially true when considering that a double fault is done on a second serve. A man can spin a serve into another man's backhand (or wheever at age 47just like he coudl at age 27). This bold proclamation is of course assuming no shoulder surgeries or general lingering issues with that joint. A bum shoulder ain't nothing I want to ever have to mess with. Worst I've ever had to deal with a small little tweak -- the cause of which escapes me -- and even that was a routine breaker. Couldn't lift any weight over my head. Was doing all these litttle lame arse exercises with five pound weights from an internet printout.
That's no way to go through life.
Hell, I bet Roddick would still be a touring pro if his shoulder was good. He indicated on I believe a podcast with Wertheim that he plays from time to time with some of the US guys (most notably Ryan Harrison) and he either stated, or I got the impression, that now that his shoulder is good he works Harrison over pretty good. He definitely emphasized to Wertheim that he won his last two pro tournaments.

Love the fight McEnroe has instilled into Raonic's game now, actually showing emotion.
Hoping for 5.
Coach of the year, who you got:
Lendl or Mac?
Both have done major in a small window of time.

damn milos is what isner wished he could be.
Three or four years ago he was Isner if Isner were even clumsier.
I dont' love his game, but I'll give Raonic credit for dedication and consequent improvement.
