Novak is about to become the new number 1. Will happen at Paris, or another tournament if Novak plays one.

fedfan and the vamos brigade always discount novak for some reason. peak novak defense is the best the game's ever seen IMO

wimby, cincy, USO and shanghai were just clinical

As an FYI, he's 18-9 vs. Fed since the beginning of 2011.

Can't rule it out.

He's on an 18 match win streak, and has lost only one match since June, to Tsitsipas in Canada.

And that was the tourney with the goofy balls and stats that made no sense.

Tennys on Tennis channel against Pouille right now, up a break in the first, playing in front of about 6 spectators.

Looking at the live rankings....Grigor and Sock are about to take big rankings tumbles in the coming weeks. Grigor going to drop the 1500 points he got for winning the 2017 WTF and likely out of the top 20. Sock going to drop the 1000 points he got for winning 2017 Paris Masters and likely out of the top 60 Oh well at least he still has doubles

Disastrous 2018 singles campaigns for both.

I’ve said before that I don’t like to have my money tied up for a year, but if I were to bet on this, Dimitrov at 20/1 seems crazy to me. He made incredible strides this year, and he’s still only 26 years old. He’s also probably the most likely player on that list to stay healthy.

What idiot said this regarding finishing ATP #1?

Hey, I was mostly right about the last line.

Tennys with the W. Without checking the live rankings, I feel like Pouille is in line for a big ranking drop at some point in the next few months.

Some big black guy from France is playing. Big serve and forehand. He looks a little bit like Ali.

I can't believe he's still just outside the top 20 with how poor he's played this season. Really thought he was primed to take that next leap into the top 10.

Also, I had forgot that Sock made it to the WTF semifinals last year. He may actually drop out of the top 100 at season's end.

Wonder what kind of odds I can get on Sock winning back to back Paris Masters?

if novak gets close to 20, he definitely has a case to be GOAT

The Masters numbers are surprising, to me at least. I had to check how Roger only managed 27.

It's because he lost 21 times in finals. Novak only lost 14.

On clay, Federer is, or was, 6-10 (2-7 vs. Rafa). Novak is 8-6 (4-4 vs. Rafa).

Very nice. His next match is definitely winnable as well. Any points he can earn between now and the Australian Open will help mitigate the effect of those 360 points falling off. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be able to keep himself in the general ballpark of where he is now rankings wise.
