The Pats messed up by giving up Garoppolo

The Pats would have won another 5 Super Bowls with Garoppolo at the helm.
But they catered to grandpa Tom and are about to be completely obsolete.
Why did they give Garoppolo up? Didn’t seem worth it at the time either.
