Not happening.

Hellooooooo PSLs..

Yep. I genuinely hope Falcons fans like whatever they come up with, b/c the fans are going to pay through the nose for the privilege of going to games there.

People like to knock the Superdome, but I think New Orleans has done it right. The dome is walkable to the French Quarter and they keep renovating it and making it better, so now the stadium is somewhat iconic, has a ton of history, and has lasted 35 years and counting so they haven't built three stadiums in that time...

That would be great. I actually like Turner Field fairly well as a stadium, but the location is terrible. I have always thought it should have been built where the Georgia Dome is to take advantage of transit and to let people walk to it. People are much more likely to walk to and from baseball games and do stuff before and after the games. Football you need a ton of space for people to park and tailgate.

The reason the Ted is in its present location is due to needing a cheap already-owned site in order to build an 85K seat stadium for the Olympics. Very shortsighted decision not to put it near a MARTA station.

Why wasn't there a MARTA station at County Stadium to begin with?

What if Atlanta wins the bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics

The original plans for MARTA in the early 1970s called for a rail line to SE Atlanta which would've included a stop at AFCS. However, the station was axed because the Braves/Fulton County didn't want to lose parking revenue, and the rail line was axed because projected ridership for the line was minimal compared to the lines that were actually necessary for operation (today's existing MARTA North/South Line)

One of the proposals for the Turner Field parking lot redevelopment included plans for a 30,000ish seat stadium for Georgia State and a MLS franchise.

I would love for the Braves to move to the Georgia Dome location, but that won't happen anytime soon. Turner Field's a good stadium, but it's in a terrible location.

with plans to develop blue lot I wonder if they're going to put in a MARTA station since there will be far less parking (I'm guessing green will become "the" party lot)

I thought Blank wanted to build this stadium to attract an MLS team, amongst other reasons

Not to mention it would be a cold day in hell before Liberty Media Group agreed to fund a new stadium. Braves would need to be sold before that would ever happen.

MARTA doesn't have the money to construct a one-station spur from Five Points that'll only be used for Braves games. Parking decks will most likely make up for the loss of surface lots.

Hell Dan Snyder is pushing for a new Redskins stadium. Fedex Field opened in like 1997.

Fed ex field is terrible. The Georgia Dome is perfectly fine.

He did. He now gets to add more luxury suites and start charging PSLs to fans. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't double or triple his current gate take.

So we can't even keep a hockey team, but now we are going to add a soccer team?

Go figure. Might work though...seems to be a lot more soccer fans around Atlanta than hockey fans.

I loved going to the thrashers games. I wonder what kind of bird the soccer team will be.

thrashers games were by far the most fun sporting event in Atlanta outside of a big time Falcons game

our soccer team could be called the Atlanta Aliens

considering who would go to the games
