Good call. It's crazy how crazy some people are. Apparently 40 times and non-athletic "scouts'" opinions don't mean a whole lot to the team that consistently gets who they want when they want.

I'm amused at how the Jets get a DT in the 1st round, then the Pats grab 2 RBs, and then the Jets counter with another DT

nice little chess match

Pretty nasty lead blocker for Hillis.

Loving the Eagles taking Casey Matthews.

Not loving the Kicker in the 4th so much.

Homer opinion here, but I can't believe these DBs that were completely shitty in college are coming off the board and Ahmad Black is still sitting there.

Yes, I know he's small and not all that fast, but if you watch his game tape (against SEC competition mind you) you will see this kid will at worst be a solid special teams contributor or a guy that will help your team in certain packages.

It is sad.

Mayock is gonna go nuts when he gets picked. Just loves him.

How is Shiloh Keo a better player than Ahmad Black? Dude runs just as slow.

(was posted regarding the Patriots picking Mallet last night)

Just like these Northerners have no clue about life in the South, other than the stereotypes they see on TV and in movies, the opposite is also true. I live in one of those quaint, picturesque New Hampshire hill towns with a population of about 8,000 - and where THREE different meth labs have been shut down in the last 7 weeks, all unrelated to each other. I think you have to be in an Amish community these days to escape that kind of stuff going on all around you.

Sorry, I know the post was more a comment on Mallet than on New England, but just thought I'd dash another stereotype, lol.

P.S. So glad to have Mister Ridley playing in Foxboro fore years to come. Will miss Kevin if he can't come back from that shredded knee.

Gotta mean Crumpler is out, Lee Smith is probably the best blocking TE in the draft.

He'll get stashed on the practice squad til Crumpler retires/leaves in FA.

Both correct. Crumpler was the veteran blocking tight end to complement the two young pass-catchers. But he's now age 33 and with 10 years in the league he will soon be winding down. He caught only 6 passes in 16 games last season, and that's okay as his primary role was to block. This new drafteee will fill that same role, replacing Crumpler this season or next. I know needing defensive players, this selection brought a gasp at first from the other guys here drinking my beer, but the Pats now have their 3-man TE position filled with high quality and balance for the next 10 years !!
