They didn’t have to. He was under contract.
Teams owe these guys nothing besides what they are currently under contract for.
It’s like this in all business where people are under contract.
All businesses don’t hoist a trophy every year. If the goal is only to make money sure, you don’t have to. If you want to win championships and make money keeping him happy is important.

He said players don’t win championships ALONE- which is true.
Newsflash - almost all documentaries put out by entertainment companies are extremely biased and one-sided. They pick a narrative and find whoever around the events sticks to that narrative while brushing off important facts.

And it's no surprise Krause has largely been painted negatively so far when Jordan's company is a producer for this

Who have they left out so far?

Did Bob Knight on that clip say he’s the best player he’d ever seen all the way back in 1984?

If you want to win, you’ve got to keep your nucleus happy. MJ, Pippen, and Phil Jackson were the glue for all 6 titles. MJ was the only one Kraus didn’t clash with. It’s one thing to have Pippen play for a few years grossly underpaid, but after the halfway point (or certainly after 5 of the 7 years), you have to take care of the guy that helped you win all those titles. Show the man some respect.
It was already a moot point by 1997 when the contract became a contentious subject. They weren't going to make Pippen the centerpiece of the team. He should've negotiated a better deal upfront, a player option, something to protect himself. The owner told him to sign a shorter deal. If he'd done that he would've been better taken care of. He opted for security though, so there's a tradeoff.

Let’s look at how it played out after Kraus got his way and imploded the Bulls. He sure showed them didn’t he? “Players win championships, organizations do.”
They were assembling a pretty nice team with Tyson Chandler and Ron Artest. Jay Willams slamming his face into pavement threw a monkey wrench into the whole thing. There's a fine line between success and failure sometimes.

Reinsdorfs first words about Krause were “everybody told me to stay away from him”
Nothing to do with MJ, Krause’s reputation was around long before your spin.

I love how you made a post about me not being objective, cause ok, when you have randomly spent the last page and a half doing nothing but white knight for Jordan

Facts are facts. “The organization” has never won before, nor after MJ. But they won 6 titles (basically in a row) with MJ.
Krause never built a true contender without MJ.
The idiot GM was trying to NOT win championships. He wanted to destroy the team and start from scratch WHEN THEY WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF WINNING TITLES.
It’s all ego. He wanted to show everyone that he was the mastermind behind the titles, not the players and coach that performed.

Damn I totally forgot Krause died a few years ago. Thought he was just excluded from present-day interviews for being an arse

Yes. Knight coached him in the Olympics and made that comment before Jordan even played a game in the NBA. The same Bobby Knight that would have seen Magic Johnson and Larry Bird up close and personal.

There are plenty of people that speak very highly of Krause if you look for it. They just don't have the platform that MJ does.
What he feels about Krause is what's going to resonate because of who he is. MJ says he's a piece of shite then that's what people will believe.

I said we can agree to disagree on opinions concerning the motives of ribbing between the players and Krause but you’re telling the story backwards to spin a narrative which is misleading.

But you’re excluding things Krause did to paint a picture. You can’t say his conduct with Phil Jackson was professional or smart. That’s totally outside of Jordan’s opinion or Pippens but it happened. For whatever reason some people are excluding that and we know exactly why.

Typical, I’ll leave you to your circle jerk of JDS. Good day

Also, this doc is a reminder of how much I miss NBA on NBC. The music, the matchups. That was like peak 90s as a sports kid growing up

Right.
That comment really was incredible.
