I think he would've had a very similar career at LSU. Flashes of huge potential but not enough substance to fulfill the hype. The worst part would be hearing how we destroyed his career and he would've had a Reggie bush type impact had he taken his talents to south central.... Funny how things work out.

USC was a better choice for him. Oh noz, I could've been russell sheppard! Pete Carrol was an NFL coach, he wanted to play in the NFL and the exposure at USC at the time was the best in the country. It's a free country. He doesn't have some civic obligation to play at LSU.

You're missing the point entirely. Russell Sheppard is a guy who had opportunity but not as much as he would have had elsewhere. A pass catching scat back would do well to play with a QB who doesn't throw the ball 10 ft over his head. So much wasted talent at LSU because of the quarterback and coaching situation. Pete Carrol played the best and he didn't care who it was. Also, USC has had a very stable if not downright exceptional QB situation going on 12 years.

please point to where I've bashed LSU. I just think it's crazy 6 years later, this board is still obsessed with this kid. For Joe Mcnight, USC was better than LSU. End of story. People act like this kid owes them or LSU something. Get bent.

oooh. Why is this about LSU? It's just time for the rant to accept the fact that he wanted something else. It didn't work out, and now it's "should've gone to LSU" Give me a fricking break. I'm of the mind where I would want my kid to have new experiences, sending them 80 miles north doesn't really accomplish that. I think it's cooler experience for a guy from California going to Georgia or a kid from alabama going to wisconsin.

Is that what I'm doing here? We're talking about Mcknight. I do not like LSU the school, I loathe their fanbase...this is known, but that has absolutely nothing to do with this topic. My opinion is not invalid because I don't like LSU.

MS state had their star recruit and current star NFL QB taken by auburn because auburn paid him like a 4th round rookie...I don't know, but I am asking, why aren't there more
