People just need to give him more time. Even Saban didn't turn around Alabama in 3 years... oh wait. Yes he did.

Define "turn around"....within one year, harbaugh had UM back at their long run average...which is around 10-3 every year.

Last year was frustrating, but john o korn was beyond hopeless.

Harbaugh's record during his 4 years at Stanford was 29-21. He had one good year, his last one, at 12-1.

David Shaw has been 73-22 over the last 7 years, with five 1st place division finishes and a 3rd place being the worst.

Harbaugh may have got that first championship, but his hype machine gives him more credit for Stanford's continued success than he deserves, just like he's getting at old Blue.

Stanford was the worst P5 program in the Nation when he took over.

Which explains that 29-21 record.

He went:

4-8
5-7
8-5
12-1

Before him Stanford had gone 1-11.

These people are delusional.

To put it in perspective....Standford's combined record the last 4 years before Habrugh got there was the worst 4 year record in the history of college football

There's a reason Stanford was a 40-point dog to USC.

They were perceived as that bad.

Have you ever seen a P5 conference foe ever be a 40-point dog in a game before?

Not to make you mad, but that's Appy State shite.

It’s really fueled by his record against their rivals, Sparty and Ohio State.

1. The media anointed him to the level of Saban and Meyer despite the fact he'd never accomplished anything close to them.

2. He ran his mouth a ton, despite a lack of major accomplishments.

3. He's lost just about every single game of significance he's coached at Michigan. He's stopped them losing to bad teams but they still consistently lose to most good teams they play.

The talk of him getting fired is completely absurd. It's clear Michigan has improved under him, but he gets the pay and the attention of a coach who's accomplished more than he has.

I think that the meaning of "turn around" for UM fans will be a NC. I do think he'll get there but when you consider Meyer and Saban's early success of getting the NC it opens him up to criticism the longer it takes. Especially with his salary and trash talking.

I love the guy. Sucks vs OSU. Hoping he stays at UM forever.

Nowhere did I say that Harbaugh doesn't deserve credit for turning Stanford around, but David Shaw's record isn't chopped liver either.

Most people don't realize that Harbaugh was only coach for one of those very good Stanford teams.

I agree the hate is unwarranted, but I'd say he's underachieved at Michigan, relative to what he did elsewhere, and relative to other coaches that have gone to big name programs and achieved higher success in a faster time (carroll/usc, Meyer/florida and Ohio st, saban/alabama).

After Harbaugh's Stanford and nfl tenure, upon arriving back to Michigan, I thought he was easily the third best coach in college football. Three years at Michigan have not proved my hypothesis.

He isn't a failure, but he hasn't lived up to the hype.

IMHO, it's much harder now to win at schools like Michigan and ND. When I was in high school (92-96) those were the "it" schools. Everyone I knew dreamed of wearing either of those helmets. Those days are gone. The best talent is down south, and those players are mostly staying home. They'll still compete from time to time, but I just don't see them having title contenders year in and year out like those other programs you listed.

I’d agree except Ohio st and even penn st have had much more success in recent years with neither being in the south.
