Down two starting safeties.

Should be a no brainer.

Is Eric Reid even good anymore? Aside from the politics, isn't he one concussion way from hanging it up?

Probably better than anyone left on the falcons roster I guess

He actually filled in a lber for the 9ers towards the end due to injury so he at the bare minimum has shown versatility.

He’s good enough to be in the safety rotation for most teams, there is no good reason for him to not be on a roster

I agree with that. Much more than CK.

CK is also not a bad player, definitely one of the best 30-35 QBs out there. But at least with him it is true that he's not a system fit for a lot of offenses. There's nothing like that with ER.

Agreed

Disagree.. Hes a rotation, spot starter at this point. The kind you can find for cheaper or younger without any of his potential baggage, warranted or not..

ETA: Now if hes willing to sign for vet minimum then Id sign him yesterday if it fits team need

It should be a no brainer, but NFL teams are idiots

He has a career average of 177 passing yards per game. That would have landed him 31st of 32 starting qb’s last year beating only rookie Brett Hundley and 31st again this year so far amongst QB’s who have played all 3 games.

Lost in all the false narrative political bull shite is that Colin Kaepernick is a really bad quarterback

What's his career passer rating?

Read that he wants a big pay day/contract (multiple years/ top salary) even though he has regressed and is one concussion away form calling quits AFTER he gets the guaranteed payday. This is his problem.

He's not great compared to starters, but NFL teams carry 2 or 3 QB's.

Politics aside, I don't know how people can logically try to argue Kaepernick isn't worth a backup or 3rd QB spot. He's basically identical to guys like Keenum and Gabbert across his career.

Again, who wants pays a 2 or 3rd string player 1st team starter money? (aside from the PR nightmare he brings)

That's wrong. He said he wouldn't just take a minimum salary.

PFF had him with a 81.4 grade for last season.

Again, this is wrong. That's based on something that was taken out of context in 2015. He basically said if he gets a bad concussion and has to walk away, he would. If he had a concussion but could still play, he'd still play. The discussion was after Borland retired early.

The Falcons probably don't have a choice if they want to compete this season, it's either Reid or make a play for earl thomas. We aren't winning more than 6 games with our current situation on defense

Interesting comparison. Keenum is averaging 248 (a full 71 yards better than CK career average) a game this year after averaging 236 a game last season

Gabbert is awful and coincidentally beat out Kaepernick in San Francisco before getting hurt. Kaepernick had 3 wins in the final 19 games he started. He has a career completion rate of 59%. He’s laughably bad at throwing the football

That gets to one of the unknown points, what Kaepernick is willing to accept. I understand not paying him starter money.

Kaepernick's camp rejected the reports he wanted 1st string money or nothing. How true that is...I don't know.

I just have an issue with people saying he's a bad QB. Maybe vs starters, but he's clearly not bad when viewed against all other QB's on NFL rosters.

Read either post I just made. Those stats aren’t my opinion. He’s a bottom 3 NFL quarterback among starters. I’m not making up his terrible statistics

I'm not sure how that addresses my point. A bottom third starter is a reasonable expectation from a #2 QB and most teams carry 2-3 QB's.

Bottom third starter is middle of the pack for all NFL QB's. That's all my point is.
