It's ballsy, but probably the best time to catch a team off guard for an onside kick.

That did not look like it was done intentionally lol

You could do it on a punt out of the end zone right? Would be shorter

I watched Neil Rackers have a shot at one live in 2008 but he shanked the frick out of it.

They all do.

Suddenly no rush and they all freak out.

Free kicks have mostly been inside the 60 and everybody has missed but Paul Hornung who hit a 45 yarder back in the toe-punch day. Tom Dempsey missed a 57 yarder...despite his old record on a regular FG. Bunch of toe-punchers like Mosely and Wersching tried 74 yarders which made no sense.

Never understood why the Raiders never tried Jano.

And yet Madden was the guy who brought it to the public's attention.

See my Cofer video link.

Well, except the high school kid in the link a few posts above you who made one from 64 yards.

Link is gone.

But you go to YouTube and type in Jake Verity 64 yard FG. It is there for anyone to see.

Interesting that the article is using the kickoff as an argument for attempting it, do they not know that they're comparing apples and oranges?

I have seen it happen once in a HS game and another game where the team was going to try it and well in range - but opposing team kicked the ball too far away from the return guy.

fans on the side that punted the ball were going nuts.. when the team lined up for free kick..
