Tyler also said USC stands for "University of Sexual Ballers" and also made a reference to reality star Kim Kardashian, who once dated former USC running back Reggie Bush.

I think it's rather pitiful that a college kid cannot drink too much and say something stupid

He's alright with me

I hate Kiffin, but somehow I suspect it was an admin decision and Kiffin would have been fine with it.

Kiffin did worse while at Tennessee and said the publicity was a good thing. It was good to have UT's name on ESPN even if it was for violations.

Haden probably told Kiffin to suspend him fwiw. It doesn't sound like a Kiffin move.

With all the crap they had to deal with with RB and OJ Mayo, a 1 game suspension is not surprising to me. They have been trying to distance themselves from those stories and that era.

Tyler was already on the verge or getting suspended or expelled by the university for multiple alcohol related problems including alleged sexual battery. He should have been given the boot

what is he supposed to do, continue to let players do this sort of thing?

and as other said, I am sure he got heat from Haden. Now that he is sober, I am sure arc realizes what he did was stupid. Mark's been in trouble many times before with Kiffin and he should have known better. But he was tanked, so i understand his reasoning wasn't intact.

Come on man. How many people have said stupid things while drunk? I know I have. Give this kid a break. Kid was just unlucky to be a high-profile athlete at a high-profile university. He is still just a kid.

The craziest part of the story is that UCLA made the decision!

He's already stated he does not need that kind of pub at SC.

He did it on television and the world wide web and it was about a school where that is on probation and whose coach is under the microscope by the AD.

UT does most of its recruiting out of state. Kiffin had a good marketing plan for UT and he and Bebe were recruiting well there. Their Vol recruits may not have been of good moral fiber (you might be surprised how many D1 college football players aren't) but they had talent.

USC doesn't need publicity. It is a marquee school, and a marquee football program. Tyler should be forgiven for being young drunk and stupid, but not for being young drunk and stupid on camera. There is a line. As has been mentioned, this isn't his first taste of hot water. His career at USC is already on a knife edge.
