"The best player should have the ball" vs Running a play in the final seconds

Is there too much emphasis on iso ball at the end of an NBA game?
Would teams be in a more favorable position to win games if they did away with this approach?

Isolation is a play though

If it goes in it doesn’t matter
If it’s a star that sport radio needs a narrative around, the star needs to take the shot

That probably depends on how the defense is playing you. Some of these teams have defensive strategies that don't allow for you to play one on one but if they decide to play straight up then why complicate things?

A team like GS (well technically since there's only one such team ) is better off moving the ball knowing that it'll likely end in the hands of a great shooter instead of the iso they run with Durant...but then again, he's a mismatch against anyone in the league.
What you're suggesting will likely create a better look, but do you really want anyone other than Leonard the shot for Toronto at the end of the game? I don't

You should try to make the best effort to get the best player the ball. But when he gets it, he shouldn’t dribble the clock down to 5 seconds before making a move and taking a terrible shot.

You should want the option that has the most likely chance to convert. Sometimes that is iso ball.

If best player is hot give him the ball and go. If other player is on then run play using best player as decoy

Spurs run plays. Which is probably another reason kawhi left. Give him the ball and let him do work.

If it's a team Lebron is on, run a play.

When Lebron would kick the ball out the open shooter he was getting killed on sports talk radio for not taking the shot.

You run a play that at least gives you two options. One of those options should be your best player. The other should probably be your best(or 2nd best) shooter.

Put the ball in the hands of the person you trust, don't be cute.
