Yep, but there is no way you trade your best performing pitcher in the middle of a playoff run, no matter how much sense it makes.

That's how I felt, now his stock is lower than Beachy's ERA.

That deal isn't looking so bad right now...

No way you could predict Jones would finally explode offensively and become a better fielder, and he still needs to prove it's not just a hot start.

Before this season Prado actually was a more valuable player than Jones 2 out of the last three seasons. We would have all wanted to kick Wren's arse if he had made that trade this offseason.

They banked on it not being a fluke, even though every advanced stat there is pointed to that being the case.

Before this season he was about a 20/10 guy batting .280. That sounds great right now.

Get rid of him.

Won't be long before he's out of the rotation.

And by won't be long, there is a chance this is his last start.

I fricking hope so. Even DLowe didn't bomb as hard as Minor the 2nd time through the order.

And Prado was a 15 HR guy who hits .290+ and has a much better walk rate, and played a hell of alot better defense in LF than Jones did in CF. Giving him and a top 25 type prospect like Minor for Jones would have been retarded at the time.

I'm not even sure what exactly would sound great about that right now anyway, the Jones from past seasons wouldn't even start for us right now.

As Swamp said, hindsight is 20/20. But even then Jones has yet to do it for an entire year and Minor still has plenty of time to learn to be a better pitcher and not collapse every time he gets runners on base. He's got the stuff, he just needs to work on the mental part.

Yep, either move Medlen in and bring up Gearrin, or bring up Julio. Minor needs to get himself straightened out in AAA.

Well, Fredi kept trotting Schafer out there in the leadoff spot even though it was painfully obvious that he couldn't hack it. Then he was traded. Hopefully the FO saves Fredi from himself again.

“Everybody is coming back,” said Gonzalez, whose Braves went 9-18 in September and lost their last five to finish one game behind St. Louis in the wild-card standings. “I invited them back and they all accepted, which is good. We’ve got a good staff.”

Some figured that first-year hitting coach Larry Parrish might be fired in light of the Braves’ dismal hitting in September and lackluster offensive performance throughout a season that ended badly.

"You’re right," Gonzalez said. "It’s easy to fire somebody and throw somebody to the wolves. That’s not the way I work."

"We’re not going to make any crazy decisions right now.”

“There were some balls hit hard, but there were some balls that you couldn’t have thrown them [to a spot in the field] any better,” Gonzalez said of Jurrjens’ performance Monday.

Yeah, Fredi seems to be in the know when it comes to personnel decisions.

Anyone know the deal with Teheran? Are they just trying to not throw him in the MLB fire for a season at this point in time? Or has his performance dropped?

Has had some trouble with HRs. Pitched awful in ST. After a rough start, he has been pitching very well in Gwinnett. I think he will be called up soon, especially with Jurrjens and Minor pitching so poorly.

Swamps could probably give you some more deets on his season so far.

Yeah we're playing a division rival starting our worst pitcher and we leave bourn and jones out of the lineup? I hope the marlins don't think they did something special tonight. All they did was prove their offense is at the very least, somewhat competent.

Eric Karabell blog this morning -

quote:

Atlanta Braves left-hander Mike Minor was tagged for six runs in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday, raising his ERA to 7.09. Minor has allowed 27 runs in his past 20 2/3 innings, should be dropped by fantasy owners and seems headed to the minor leagues. Of course, who would replace him? Right-hander Jair Jurrjens gave up 11 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett against Buffalo Wednesday. It might be Livan Hernandez time!
