According to Bowman, we were getting close to a trade with the Reds before they got Mat Latos.

The Braves made a run at Orioles outfielder Adam Jones earlier this month, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. Connolly reports that Atlanta offered Jair Jurrjens, Martin Prado, and a pitching prospect for Jones, but the O's "didn't bite," indicating how much they value their center fielder.

WTF Wren?

Has there been any speculation on who the Braves plan on using to fill in for Chipper when he goes down if they trade Prado? Or do the Braves really think Chipper is going to get healthier as he ages another year?

Baltimore must not enjoy engaging in trade rape. That would have been horrible for us even without knowing who the pitching prospect was.

If you guys think my blowup after the Yunel trade was bad, it would have been 10x worse if we would have made that deal. I would no longer be allowed on this site.

Hopefully that report is leaving out that we were asking for a top rated prospect at a position of need in addition to A Jones.

I would imagine whoever we sign to be our backup SS will be a utility guy capable of playing 2B/SS/3B.

I assume it would be whichever utility infielder we sign.

This so far may be the most depressing off season I can remember since I started following the Braves in 1990.

One day you might actually contribute to this thread. Until that day comes, we will all remain disappointed.

I mean that's my assumption too. I think that is a bad strategy though and basically banking on Chipper being healthy the majority of the season.
