We'll end up trading JJ and getting something nice in return. Other than that, I figured it was going to be quite boring. We have no areas of need.

This so far may be the most depressing off season I can remember since I started following the Braves in 1990.

Look at it this way. What if we had signed Reyes? Fredi would just bat him 8th and have him sac bunt. That thought is far more painful than the inactivity of this offseason.

Nats are pushing hard to get Gio.

Basically everyone in our division got better... but us the Metropolitans.

They were already better than us, brah. They didn't need to do much.

Then don't say they got better, say they stayed better than us. Big difference. They did not improve this off-season. Losing Roy O is a big loss.

You obviously forgot they signed the Dontrelle Willis pain train.

I mean, what positions do we have open at the moment? Backup SS and backup OF. Of course we weren't going to go out and sign any FA's or anything and then hope we're able to make some trades. Franks out there making calls and that's all he can do right now. I'm glad he's not out there trading JJ or Prado just to trade them. Wait it out until teams start to get desperate, then pounce.

As for last years numbers, IDGAF about them. If J Hey, Prado, and Uggla's 1st half repeat those performances than we are going to be screwed anyways.

We got rid of Gonzo and Lowe, so I already see this team as upgraded from a team that barely missed the playoffs last year, when a lot of things didn't go our way.

I applaud your optimism.

Wish I had some.

I'm surprised I always stay so optimistic when it comes to the Braves.

As for LSU, I usually can't say the same.

I do somewhat side with the notion that if JHey, Prado, and Uggla (1st half) can return to form that we'll be vastly improved.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of this centers around Fredi's ability to field good lineups. And well...

Heyward getting back on track would be better than any trade we could make. Hopefully he is spending endless hours this offseason reworking his swing.

We're the opposite in that regard.

I fully expect us to trade JJ, and am really interested in what we get.

Next year's offseason should be a little more interesting. We have some holes open up and will have some money to spend. Maybe even challenge for a big name.
