There a lot of rumors going around about the Braves not even trying to re-sign Dansby since they use the same agency.

Call me crazy but I think the Braves might go big game hunting at shortstop next offseason.

Trea Turner is my preference, especially considering Correa's back issues.

Also, Correa is a Boras client. Keep that poison far away from our clubhouse.

LOL.

You are definitely going to be at his first game back in Atlanta and you are going to be the guy telling all of the people sitting around you how it should be done. Cheer him, then boo him. When the boo birds start at his first at bat, you will chastise those in your section. I would pay for a ticket to watch your reaction more than I would to be at Freeman’s first game back in town.

Instant upgrade. Dansby is too inconsistent offensively.

No. I let people do what they want and make an arse of themselves while I just shake my head and laugh to myself. It's their money.

And I'm not going to the game. I'm already going Tuesday and on May 13th so I've hit my quota.

But nice attempt at a gotcha.

Turner would be fine w/me. Fair point on Correa's back.

And FWIW, Boras and AA did talk about Correa at the start of ST after he had signed w/the Twins about possibly coming here after this year.

I want Dansby to be the long term leader with a good if inconsistent bat. But he's not making the case in either regard with his start and his whining about FF.

Suck it up and take the role dude

I think Olson takes on this role eventually.

Same here. He oozes that capability but he can't if he's in his own head/feelings like he is now and if he ain't gonna be here after this season.

I agree w/VA that Olson will eventually assume the role but I could also see Riley taking that mantle. Something about his demeanor screams leader to me.

I've heard the A's fans say he's got good leadership abilities but he doesn't give off a lot of forcefulness in interviews, etc. Which isn't to say he won't be a good leader, but I think it's an open question. Of course, same questions apply to Dansby, but it did appear he was the heir apparent and understudy.

Same was said about Freddie.

Which is fine with me, he was never Chipper Jones and I know that will eat at his arse for the rest of his life. Personally, I don't like the fact that Freddie gets more adoration than Chipper at this point of his career for playing far less years in ATL than Chipper did.

Its subjective and the story is still fresh. Also, Chipper showed up on College Gameday decked out in Gator gear. Some things can't be unseen. I consider Chipper's body of work as greater than Freddie's, but for me personally, Freddie was more "my guy." I felt the same way for Ron Gant vs Justice also, so take it for what its worth.

As for the OP topic, I wish all of this would just stop now. Dude is gone, he will always be a Braves legend, we should have just extended him last season, but it didnt happen. I hope he wins every award possible while the Braves win rings. Nothing but appreciation for FF, but DOB seems to need to write on the topic every damn day.

Good post and fair points.

Also, just saw this:
quote:

Atlanta Braves (@Braves) Tweeted:
The #Braves today reinstated INF Austin Riley from the paternity list. Additionally, RHP Jesse Chavez reported to Atlanta and was added to the active roster.
