Well, a lot of the talk was centered on trade.

good thing is all spots that will need to be filled will come very cheap. All we are gonna need is a SS and a couple middle relief arms. You either go with Pastor for cheap if you think he's ready, or re-sign Gonzo to a 1 year deal on da cheap.

What is going to be interesting is what we do with the rotation. I've thought from the get go JJ was going to have a good chance at being traded at the end of the year, but for what? Any major league player we got back in return wouldn't have a spot, at least until Chip retires a hole in left opens up. So you can trade him for some very top prospects, which is a possibility I guess but idk.

We'll prob just look hard at trading Lowe just for salary relief to open up some money for the pen.

I really don't know which direction we are going to head in. I usually have a clue, but this offseason is gonna baffle me.

Jurrjens and prospects to Colorado for Tulo.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

JJ for Tulo.

Get it done.

Kidding aside, there's not many options that fit what we'd need.

Since we seem to have high confidence in Pastornicky, it's either him next year, or a cheap vet, like Swamp said. We're not going to trade for someone expensive with Pastor nearly ready. Mets are going to try and pay Reyes big $$$, not that we'd even been in that sweepstakes. Rollins will probably resign in Philly, just because of his ties there.

AGon has gotten so bad with the bat he's almost playing himself out of a contract for next year. If we're going to go that route, I'd rather us look at someone like Ronny Cedeno, who is a superior SS at this point, though almost equally worthless with the stick. But if we're looking for a cheap defensive guy, might as well get a younger, better one.

At some point, keeping Teheran and Minor in AAA will stunt their growth, I would imagine.

Nope. Once you get past the quality players, most of whom are too expensive or untouchable, it goes downhill pretty quick. I wish the relationship between Yunel, Yunel's frosted tips, and the rest of the team hadn't turned so sour. We probably never should have traded him. He's back to exactly where he was 2 years ago now.

Please God NO. Please. I can't take another year of 3 option hitting: pop-up, strike out, GIDP, repeat...

I dunno, both of them still have a good bit to work on with their breaking balls, particularly Julio who needs to develop his curve more as an out pitch. I'd prefer we keep them in AAA next year and move Lowe around the deadline or before to hold their arb clocks back.

Sorta, I'm still not sure how much is him and how much is the Blue Jays stadium. Yunel still has really bad numbers on the road. But he'd look a whole lot better than AGon right now for sure.

SS is super thin like you said, maybe we can move Jair for a good SS prospect close to the majors in a year.

If its a one year rental at short stop then you mind as well bring back A.Gon for his defense. You can always bring up Pastornicky midway if its absolutely vital.

I think a lot of this offseason depends on what Chipper does. If he is gone how much of his salary comes off the books? That also gives us the option of going after a 3rd baseman or a corner outfielder.

Regardless of Chipper, at this point I feel pretty confident that Lowe will not be on this team next year.

All of his $13M. But it is very doubtful that he'll retire.

Is it crazy to ponder if the Braves would consider placing Lowe on waivers?

The Braves place all players on waivers

Noone would pick Lowe off waivers though

Every player on the roster will be placed on trade waivers in the next few days, there is no chance anyone will claim Lowe though because the Braves could dump his entire salary this year and next on the claiming team.

I wish the Yankees were more desperate for starting pitching.

Hopefully he gets it going like he did at the end of last year. I kind of like the idea of him coming out of the pen in the playoffs though.

I see. Thanks. I was under the impression that if a player was put on waivers and claimed that he had to be traded or the other team gets him and his salary but I guess the team reserves the option to pull him back.

The only reason I ask is because the Yankees look like they are getting desperate.
