Lefty reliever is going to be at the top of the trade deadline wishlist. Aroldis Chapman would be nice

Imagine being a WS contender with a pitcher like Jose Suarez on the roster.

Jose and the Braves roster have something in common with the draft that was completed today..........Both are NotForLong

That and probably another starting pitcher depending on what Strider is able to give us. I am expecting nothing out of Schwelly this year as a baseline and will be pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Same with Waldrop.

I don’t think as of right now we will see JR make a second consecutive start but we might, and who knows what he will give us long term.

I don’t think Grant Holmes is a 3 era guy across a whole season and will see regression into the 4.50 area. I am starting to believe what we are seeing out of Elder is real though and he could actually be a solid middle of the rotation guy moving forward and not a fringe 5th starter like I expected him to be.

Grant has been a 3 ERA guy every season of his career. Why would that change now?

He has never pitched 150 + innings at a major league level which you would consider bare minimum for calling something a full season as a starting pitcher.

The closest he came was last year at 115 innings with a 3.99 ERA and FIP at 4.40 suggesting if he was given more innings he would average out about where I placed him at a 4.50 era

This is because he is still primarily a 2 pitch pitcher. 4 seam fastball and slider, even though its a really good slider. It is very hard to be a SP like that and to his credit they have worked on adding more stuff to his arsenal this year

I think her earned a home start after his last outing, but we shouldn't count on him to factor in the rotation when it matters. That wouldn't be fair to his development.

I’d love to see him get another start. I just don’t think the Braves will. Wasn’t he put in place because of Lopez suspension?
