In a word: inconsistent
That's putting it lightly considering McCullers is out.
Assuming Framber and Garcia are their pitchers for the first two games, both got ROCKED in at least one start in the ALCS.

Can’t imagine their bullpen is as good as LA either.

How good is the Astros rotation? I see it’s been described as a mess.
If you don't mind my answering... talented but inconsistent. If yall saw what Framber and Garcia did in games 5 and 6 that's what they're capable of. But...they're also known to drop some duds like they did in games 1 and 2.
Framber has to be our ace. He's had moments of dominance like game 5. He was great in the 2020 post season. When he's on, he gets swings and misses over a really good curveball and generates constant ground balls with his sinker. But when he's off, he can't throw strikes and he walks a ton of guys. Look at his game logs this year and he went through a stretch around mid season where he was walking 4-6 guys each game. It's usually pretty clear out of the gate which version of Framber we're going to get.
Luis Garcia was a solid contributor and really an anchor of the rotation this year as a rookie. He's been a bit worn down toward the end of this season. Previous career high in IP was 109 in the minors and he's over 160 this season. Even at his best he's struggled to consistently go longer than 5 innings this year. He's struggled on the road and against lefties but he's been really really good pitching at home. His game 6 was a total surprise, throwing 96-98 and showing command of a change up to lefties was something we haven't seen much of. He was said to of made a mechanical tweak between game 2 and 6 that cleaned some things up so well see if he repeats.
Jose Urquidy has missed a lot of time this year. He doesn't wow you with stuff. Here's a link to one of his quality starts a few weeks back against the As...6IP 3ER (2HR) and 3Ks LINK that'll give you a bit of an idea what his stuff is and how he works. He throws a lot of strikes...sometimes to a detriment where he doesn't have a real out of the zone chase pitch. But he varies his fastball, slider and change-up to some success.
After those three, it's a crap shoot. Grienke was solid for us for most of the year and the he really struggled towards years end and went on the IL and never had time to get worked back up as a starter. Jake Odorizzi is probably the other guy you'll see start a game...bit of a bust. He's spent a lot of time on the IL and hasn't pitched particularly well. He maxes out at around 4 innings and gets shelled the 3rd time around...to the point where we weren't even letting him do it regardless of how well he was pitching. He got pulled after 4 or 5 innings at 60 some pitches and called it bullshite in the media. So you'll probably see some combo of Odorizzi/Greinke and Christian Javier who's been multi inning relief ace this post season.

Sorry about the novel.
But if you wanted a scouting report that'll be as good as you'll see on the board. You can see why our pitching was ranked fairly high as far as ERA...talent is there consistency...not where you'd like.
So we'll see which versions of our guys show up. Definitely feel like yall have a leg up in the rotation as far as stability..knowing what your starter is likely to bring you.
