Yeah there are...what does it come down to? Can only take 4 from the following?
White, Mateo, Kim, Jarvis, Smith and Thomas
Not sure if the numbers are right.
Thomas obviously in...would think Smith would be safe since he is a lefty, but they may feel like Yaz is all they need.
Clubhouse apparently loves Mateo and would be mad if he is DFAd for Kim. I'd get rid of White since he is pretty redundant now with Thomas. I think due to the cost you have to let Kim have one more shot. Jarvis still has options right? Wouldn't be fair but maybe stash him in Gwinnett while Kim gets his last chance?
I'll hang up and listen.

ehhh, his ABs would take a huge dip with Dubon moving to SS.
He's the easiest move of the bunch.
After that, I would think the easiest move to DFA'ing Kim and just eating the rest of the contract whether that means you trade him tomorrow or just release him. He brings nothing to the table.
But I fear the move is going to be White who just became superfluous with Thomas coming in.

Sending Jarvis down makes a lot of sense if unable to move HSK.
Murphy will be ready soon, also. Do we carry three catchers?
If Eli is released, Hicklen will be in AAA if a righty OF is needed due to injury.

True on Dubon.
Re the catcher situation, does Bart have options? Who knows how long Murphy will stay up until he hurts something else.

Gausman to the Cubs
Bummer there is apparently still bad blood between Jays and AA. He would have been a good fit.

That hurts because I thought he was the most obtainable in terms of AA being tight with his coin purse.
Maybe we shock the world and land a controllable asset like Hunter Greene. Won’t happen, but he or maybe Kirby are the last “needle movers” starters left.

Ironically, the Cubs traded a Southisene for Gausman

That won’t move the needle much.

Given that the cubs gave up two 35+ FV guys to get him (Cubs 30 and 33rd prospects on Fangraphs updated 26 rankings) I think it's safe to say he was fairly obtainable.
I'd say Mize moves the needle pretty well myself, he'd give us a really good #2 starter, which would give us a fighting chance. Obviously injury concerns there, but Greene would scare me even more with injury concerns given how much we would have to overpay to get him.
And given that we are looking at Perez and Elder as playoff starters atm, many starting pitchers could move the needle a bit.
Given the prospect cost of the secondary pitching market so far, if AA doesn't get something done his BS will come off even dumber than usual.

I want Trevor Rogers and George Kirby. Would give up a haul for Kirby in particular.

Considering how banged up the rotation options are with R. Lopez, Waldrep being unavailable, IMO this trade makes sense to provide a fifth guy behind Sale, Elder, Perez and Grant Holmes who can eat some innings as a fifth starter for a bit.
If they can get a better option like a Casey Mize, then slot him behind Salevand go from there.

He's been fairly average since being injured last season. He's still been a solid #3 starter, but I have a feeling he'd cost like a #1 in trade.
I'm not a big fan of big trades for controlled guys right now given I think we are going to lose most of the 27 season. I was sure the owners were going to get a cap before the Skubal trade, but now they definitely are. We'd basically be paying for a year of control that would be nearly worthless.

Mahle doesn’t help that. We’d be better off giving those starts to Murphy and Ritchie

More “fixer upper” ahh moves from this Org

Agreed with the lockout. Wild card in all of this
Mize or Holmes need to happen imo
I’m guessing nothing more on the starter front happens and we sign a 6th inning reliever
