Which is completely fair, and they should for sure, his upside is gigantic, particularly if he can stick at SS.

There's a fear that Hartman will struggle with AA pitching. He's going to get called up at some point to C'bus and we'll soon find out. If he

That's fair to be concerned about him adjusting, but if his power jump this year is real he has a legit all star ceiling, you don't give that up for a rental. That's what losing baseball teams do. That's John Schuerholz in the mid 2000s desperation mode type dumb IMO.

This team has massive holes (bullpen, multiple starters, OF, and SS), simply getting Skubal isn't fixing that. And giving up real prospects for rentals will definitely ensure we are in win now mode due to lack of young talent.

Big dawg, we've been losing for the last two years and this is likely the last chance this current core has.

If you can turn a 20-year-old dude in A+ into Skubal in a win-now year, you do it.

I'll frame it this way. We're going to make the playoffs this year.

What do you think the playoff rotation is right now?

That's why you get Skubal if you can.

Want to know what an unserious baseball team does?

Puts Connor Thomas on the mound in a 3-3 game in the 6th.

WTF? Is this part of the "save the bullpen" strategy for the 13 game stretch?

Jesus, might as well bring back Freddy Gonzalez.

Yes, agree with all this. Too many holes to overpay for half a year of Skubal

Sale is due for his annual injury too. No guarantee he is even available for post season.

I think we are just giving up this game. There should be no use of the bullpen tonight. The guy pitching right now is a step above a position player in this role. I understand

I don't see a team with a chance, we've had a losing record the past two months basically. Sale and Skubal and pray for rain isn't a viable playoff strategy. Our offense is hot garbage and isn't taking us anywhere, and the pitching has collapsed.

And our manager Snit Jr is a dumbass and isn't managing us to wins in the postseason. We'll muddle our way into the playoffs, but I'll be surprised to see us get past the second round. It's baseball so you can never say never, but the odds on this team making the WS are damn low.

It's Chris Sale and a bunch of crap, which is why trading for Skubal is dumb.

And yeah, putting crappy mangers like WW in charge is definitely something unserious baseball teams do, agreed. But we knew that when the hire was made, despite him being able to fake it for the first month and a half.

A package centered around Hartman is not an overpay. Stop the madness. You guys are overvaluing the frick out of what's on our farm right now. It's Caminiti, Southisene, maybe Hartman and a bunch of question marks.

This is loser way of thinking. May as well start the rebuild now then.

Maybe not. But if you get starting pitching which would in-turn shorten up the bullpen, we have a shot. If we expect to have Lee-Suarez-Iggy all available by the playoffs, you have to go for it, because that's as good of a three-headed monster to end games after 6 innings, which is valuable as shite in the postseason.

I'd add Briggs to that list, but agree otherwise (not including the most recent draft).

And I'm not saying give up, but trade anyone besides those 4 to grab multiple players. Go after Mize from the Tigers to be a #2, grab Minter, grab a corner OF that can hit lefties well to platoon with Yaz and move Dubon to SS full time, etc.

We have so many holes giving up the farm for one player makes zero sense. Now I could get behind some kinda super deal for Skubal and Mize involving Hartman, and then making minor moves for a platoon OF and relief pitcher depth. That would move the needle for the team and change it so if the offense got hot we'd have a shot.

But simply having Sale And Skubal backed up by Elder and our other garbage isn't winning anything.

Not even about the individual prospect to me. Just not worth trading what you would have to trade to get Skubal when he's not going to make you into a world series contender and you're not going to resign him.

I'd be more open to trading for a SP3 that is controllable for another year or two vs Skubal tbh.

Call it whatever you want. Dude is old and injury prone. Would be dumb not to consider that when sketching out the rest of the year.
