I don't understand why he isn't throwing his changeup, which is considered a plus pitch and better than his curve. I don't think he's throwing the 2-seamer I thought he'd been using either.

He doesn't trust himself enough to throw a change I guess. His 2 seamer and changeup will be key to his success. WHen he was using the 2 seamer in the spring, he dominated. I don't know why he quit using it because his 4 seamer fricking sucks. It's about as straight and unmovable as one could throw a FB. Very Hideki Irabuish without the velocity.

It's like he was successful pitching one way in spring and has complete changed approach during the season.

Only thing I can think of is Fredi took him under his wing as a personal project and won't let Roger coach him......

I noticed that Teheran has trouble hitting the outside corner against lefties for some reason.

At this point why not just let Gattis catch Teheran? Laird isn't helping him much.

Gattis needs a day off here and there too like any other catcher. Plus he was starting to slump his last 2 games.

Gattis is slumping. This was a good night off.

His changeup is what made him a top prospect. In the minors he was drawing comparisons to a young Pedro Martinez.

Well, it's hard to have an effective changeup when you can't locate you mediocre fastball on the corner. I dont know what happened between '11 and '12, but Teheran completely lost ability to control his FB. He has control, but not command.
