It's a haul they've should have gotten for Ozuna too.

Brinson and Harrison both have high ceilings, but a low floor as well. I thought it was fair.

Pretty sure we’d have had to thrown in Acuna. Which would be like us trading Chipper Jones when he was in the minors. No thanks.

Acuna is awesome and they were 100% right to not deal him for Yelich, but the hype train is getting pretty wild

I knew Acuna was getting a ton of hype but I was not aware that his numbers were this good. Granted I don't follow the minors as closely as I used to.

quote:

Acuna will be the first Braves player to be number one overall since Jason Heyward in 2010 and for good reason as Acuna has posted some absurd numbers in the minor leagues since 2015. He has not posted below a 135 wRC+ at any stop in the minor leagues all culminating up to his 2017 season between AA Mississippi and AAA Gwinnett. Acuna in 57 games with Mississippi hit .326/.374/.520 with 9 home runs and a 159(!) wRC+ and the crazy thing is he got even better after being promoted to Gwinnett where he hit .344/.393/.548 with 9 more home runs and a 162(!) wRC+ in 54 games. For comparison Acuna put up numbers between AA and AAA that would translate to being a 6+ WAR player.

Also mentioned in the article, Acuna is the 6th Braves player to become the #1 overall prospect, 3 more than any other franchise since Baseball America started doing this.

Didnt realize it was 5 players for 6 years. That got me, and didnt think about Avery.

I think someone was #1 twice so it’s 5 guys right?

I’ll say:

Acuna
Heyward
Andruw Jones
Chipper (twice due to his injury)
It’s either Avery or Smoltz (flip a coin I’ll say Avery as he was Braves drafted guy and i can’t remember how high Smoltz was in the Detroit org)

I'm so ready for ST to start.

BTW, the promotional schedule came out yesterday. I need that Chipper Jones "Crazy Train" bobblehead.

The #Braves have acquired INF Ryan Schimpf from the Rays in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. He will wear uniform number 12.

RHP Josh Ravin has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.

I’ll patiently await Vegas to update their World Series odds.
