Sean Murphy is set to be the highest paid catcher in baseball in 2026. That trade/extension looks worse every day.

Great job AA.

Time is a damn circle. We are back to that period where we were at from 97-03 or so when Schuerholz started doing some really goofy shite. We lost Justice, Grissom, Klesko, Dye, Schmidt, McGriff, etc paired with a revolving door of major injuries to Javy, Big Cat, Smoltz, etc and never really recaptured the postseason magic.

I'll gladly take 97-03 compared to the path we seem to be heading down now.
From 97-01 we made the NLCS three of the four years and the World Series once, while making the postseason every year from 97-03.
Compare that to the last two years where, If not for the expanded postseason, we'd be looking at two straight years without making the playoffs.

lol that wasn't the point of the post at all. but the decision making of Scheurholz in the late 90s directly led to the shite show from 2000 beyond where they didn't win a playoff series. He started to break up the core and traded away what could have been key young players to take over, but the pitching trio plus Chipper being in his prime made up for it. Once the trio aged out of their prime that dynasty was done for.
The parallels now are similar, but with the way the game is now, and with the way other teams are building their rosters, the swings from year to year are much quicker and more drastic.

They're not though... every team deals with injuries.
There is no parallel where we let dudes in their prime walk year after year.

If the rumors of Ketel Marte being available are true, anyone besides Acuna, Baldwin, and Schwellenbach should be on the table to go get him. This lineup needs another big bat and he would probably be the best bat potentially available this winter.

He's a headcase.
That's why Arizona is supposedly shopping him.

Lol at you saying this but also saying the Braves made a smart move in starting Orlando Arcia at SS for two seasons.

AA and cheap arse Liberty Media won't. We'll go after Bo Bichette as another AA reclamation project a-la Jared Kelenic.

To play where? All they are lacking is a SS. This is assuming they make the logical choice and have Baldwin DH. Sign a utility that can be an emergency catcher. Then focus on a TOR starter (
