I was thinking overreaction as well but this is good actually, typically that want to go off preseason rankings (and there's still some of that here), but going of the actual games is better than some preconceived notion

But the only reason why Wisconsin and Texas are ranked so high is because of the perceived notion of the teams they beat

I always love reading through these threads. By the time it's done, at least 15 different teams will be mentioned as being overrated, but nobody to jump up and take their spots

Take anyone from 9-25 and jump them over Washington

8 is high, but somewhere in the mid teens is pretty realistic. Certainly easier to make a case than for Washington to not be ranked at all.

Washington is looked at very favorable in a lot of the non-biased computer rankings...

13th in ESPN's FPI
14th in FEI
10th in S&P
9th in Sagarin
etc.

Didn't watch TCU but Tennessee was down most of the game and needed OT and Michigan State while they struggled were never in danger of losing.

How? LSU makes the field goal and wins do you drop them that low or move Wisconsin up that high? If Torii Hunter Jr hangs on to that ball or that field goal isn't tipped and Notre Dame wins do you drop them that far or move Texas up that high? The answer to all 4 questions is clearly no. All 4 being between 15-22 sure, but to move two who barely scrapped out a victory from outside the top 25 to 10/11 and drop two top 10 to 18/21 is absurd.

I just don't know what the voters are supposed to do. If Texas and Wisconsin don't jump ND and LSU the narrative is "How are Texas and Wisconsin ranked behind teams they beat?", especially when that's the only game you can base things on. If you move them up too high it's about an over reaction.

Lose-lose situation I guess.

Probably shouldn't have put them into the top 11

Yeah, I think both of those being National TV games helped tremendously. If you're going to bump both of those teams up that high I think you have to move A&M up almost as high. All 3 belong around 15, but with so many ranked teams losing in Week 1 I'm guessing it was very different from normal. It will all work itself out over the course of the season though.

Not overly shocked by the huge jumps. The polls of this CFP era are much more fluid than that of the BCS.

Why are those overreactions? We have one game to go off. Let's rank based on that one game
