I was halfway joking, but it’s really like that all the time. Same for football (you can also add the Nola Catholic school teams and Karr)

The Bonuras Kal and Kenny use their corporate knowledge to shut down the Owls in a 5-1 opening night victory at Holy Cross… our lineup wasn’t really competitive at the plate, They put a home run over their tall left field fence and a double off of it.

but its annoying AF for barbe and WM to have to hear the recruiting BS all the time

sam houston has kids on the team from jennings from jennings baseball royality and dont hear a word about it. The dad still has a business in jennings and lives there

if a kid moves to barbe or WM its an investigation every time. its over the top

i know kids that live in the SJ district like me but a 500' from the barbe district and coaches turned in the players and started an investigation like any one is going to send their kids to lagrange. ended up being a nothing burger because kid had been at SJ the whole time buts the overall BS thrown around gets stupid for those two schools

and this board is no different in that. You can show links where the kids have been playing with Travel teams and lived in LC since they were 8....yet this board will still scream...recruiting. its exhausting.

and for the record you can out of zone anywhere if you get it approved, just have to sit out freshman year from varsity

and we should have school choice anyways in this state.

They know how to play the game. #1 program in the state playing a Class B school and that B team will win 30 games. I believe they played them and Grace Christian 4-5 times last year. Smart scheduling and they’re just playing by the rules set forth.

There was a proposal at the convention where baseball teams were going to get even less points for wins, from 20 to 17 and reduced the playing up points from 2 points to 1 per division playing up

Downsville Charter proposed it with the intention to “try and achieve a more sound power point formula”

The pros of it were “to keep schools from scheduling games based solely on probable wins” and “to try and stop power point manipulation of playing up and losing”

But this would have made power points even MORE dependent on what your opponents did.

If you want to reward wins more, raise the points per win from 20 to 25 or 30

Btw the proposal failed 142 to 169. Barbe and Catholic voted no and West Monroe voted yes

I think the next step should be to throw some points to road wins. Not a massive amount. 2-3 would suffice.

I always heard Stan Wilson was just as good, never lost, but the coach would never pitch him when the scouts came to the games.

Every coach with championship aspirations is going to try and give his team any advantage it can get, but in recent years I don't remember the big boys avoiding each other or better teams in lower classes

Barbe is about to play 2 good TX schools and PBHS this wknd. Seems like CHBR and WM do similar. Even the Catholic League in NO gets after it. I know Rummel is playing a 3 game set with PBHS

There's probably plenty of examples of coaches really manipulating the system. Not sure I'd bother mentioning Barbe

Love those 1-0 pitching duels.

Not a fan of extra innings.

If you don’t think an extra 5 games worth 40 points make a massive difference on power rankings I’m not sure what to say. 1-5 last year in D1 NS was extremely close. Without those wins, 1 seed Barbe would not have hosted throughout/had a bye I believe.

I’m not hating at all. Like I said, it’s smart to schedule those games. It’s a coach’s job to put his team in the best position to win.

I was under the impression the semis and finals were played in Sulphur

Never really considered that Barbe would concern itself with being outside of the top 4 teams in their class

How often do they lose prior to the semis for it to be something Cecchini needs to worry about his seeding?
