Yes. Cantlay won PGA Tour player of the year. He was not the best golfer in the world according to the OWGR, Strokes gained, and was not a better player in all 5 of the biggest tournaments.
Being the PGA Player of the Year which is going to always be biased in voting towards the guy who wins their Tour Championship does not necessarily mean he was the best player.

I know he’s employed by both NBC and CBS, but man it would be wonderful to go one big week, especially the Ryder Cup, without having to listen to Faldo babble.

They paired well at the Presidents’ Cup as well. On top of that they’re both (Cantlay especially) in good form.
