It's not Golf Channels fault. Blame the green jackets.

Why do they not want us to be able to watch?

Mystique?
They used to not even show the front 9, even on Sunday.

When does today's tv coverage start?
2pm on CBS

As I posted previously, I remember the days when all you got were 2 hours each on Saturday & Sunday. Billy Payne hinted in his press conference Wednesday that you might see expanded online coverage down the road.

I think it's insulting to the fans to have such restricted coverage. Especially this day and age.

They used to only show the back 9.

Does NBC provide more than 5 hours of coverage of the US Open on the weekends?
Posted on 4/11/15 at 9:54 am to COTiger
Fox is doing more than 32 hours of live TV coverage this year for the US Open.

They are pretty savvy in how they roll out coverage and it works from a business perspective. It's the most popular golf event in the world (outside the Ryder cup, maybe), so why change?

To show appreciation to those fans who are unable to make it to Augusta. Those fans are the ones who make it the most popular golf event in the world. Having online coverage from start to finish wouldn't significantly change their bottom line. You're having to watch it on their website with their hand picked announcers.
I don't think it's a business decision.

Augusta's response to those who complain about their coverage:
We will do what we want.

We will do what we want.

Related: Has Hole 6 ever been shown on TV? I had no idea they hit over the crowd until I went out there.

That's fine. I'll still watch, but my opinion still stays the same.
Spieth wasn't a featured group until 2 hours into his round yesterday as he was making history. And TV coverage started after he finished or was nearly finished. That's a shame, in my opinion.

They will probably learn that's too much coverage.
I worked the PGA for CBS at Southern Hills the year that Nick Price won it in the '90s. Coverage for the first two days was aired on either TBS or TNT. Don't remember which.
What I do remember is the first day, the producer had me on a par 3 tee on the front 9. My job was to pass along the irons they were hitting to him in the truck. The nearest tree was 200 miles away and we're talking Tulsa in August. No way you can do that for 8 hours.

Doubt Washington will be as bad. Though Chambers Bay doesn't have many trees.

I mean, I don't disagree with your opinion. Just saying this is a group of people who would have zero TV coverage if the mood struck. The way they do things creates a sense of respect and annoyance at the same time for me.
