Why on earth would they want to that, its racing, faster the better.

That's been the trend for all motorsports over the last two decades or so. NASCAR has restrictor plates (used to be able to average over 210+ before restrictor plates in Daytona/Talladega). IndyCar/ChampCars used to be able to average 240+ in tracks like Michigan and Fontana.

I do miss the screaming V-10's. I'm not sure what to make if this new car yet. I'll still be in ATX for the USGP in November.

I wish it was easier to follow F1. I understand it's the most ethnologically advanced and richest racing circuit in the world with the most challenging races and that their drivers are the best in the world.

I like the road courses in F1 and how their races are designed to last no more than like 2 hours. I occasionally watch NASCAR and think it's exciting but I would like to see races between the two cars on an oval. I think you could engineer it so that the cars are evenly matched on horse power. My guess that F1 cars would win handily.

My favorite series to watch of all time was CART in the mid to late 90s. They had the fastest cars with a variety of short ovals, superspeedways, natural road courses, and street courses.

Yeah I enjoy indy style racing. It's too bad that indy racing has lost some of its popularity but the feud between USAC/CART/IRL took it's toll.

The 'old' F1 cars would destroy a stock car on any track.

I always wanted to see what a F1 car would do unleashed at Talladega.

Clip comparing the speed around Melbourne between the 2013 and 2014 cars. Last year's car destroys the current version.

Back in the old Champ Car days (CART), they had to cancel a race at Texas Motor Speedways (2001 I think) because drivers were blacking out during the turns due to the G forces the drivers experienced. I'm certain this would be the case with F1 cars in super speedway trim.

This.

A stock car isn't designed for pure, unadulturated speed like an F1 car. A race between the two really wouldn't say much of anything other than that they are two very different platforms.

Agreed. Paul Tracy taking fools out left and right. Old Penseke Marlboro trim was awesome. Al Unser and Michael Andretti, awesome series. Got to go to Toronto in it's prime.

I'm okay with F1 toning it back on the engines and see what the teams can come up with. Figured we would go that way since CART at Texas Motor Speedway, the blackout festival. The front wing however looks dumb.

Also F1 is not hard to follow in the States. All the races are on NBC Sports. DVR the race and watch it when you can in the morning, no one coveres it so the race will not be spoiled for you.

Hoping Massa gets a podium in the next race.

I was a huge Greg Moore fan back in the days. His death was probably the saddest moment as a sports fan. With his pending move to Penske, he would've easily won a few Indy 500s and perhaps even made the jump to Formula One at some point.
