Wow!! They have posted the updated Ryder Cup standings on PGA Tour. Furyk jumped from #15 to #11. Fowler, Snedeker, Johnson, & VanPelt are 12 thru 15. Unless DL3 doesn't want him, I think he's a WC pick.
Assuming the standings stay the same after the PGA Championship, Mahan and Stricker are locks for captain's picks. So, that leaves 2 more for the likes of Furyk, Fowler, Snedeker, DJ, Van Pelt, and Haas. No one else will be seriously considered. I think I'd take Furyk and Snedeker, but Furyk's recent choking under pressure would make me think really hard about taking Fowler. Especially given Fowler's performance 2 years ago in Europe.

Fowler will be picked. He's a lock.

Off topic, but you can play Kiawah from the Championship tees on WGT and it's hard as shite. 3W's into every green.

I hope he does well, I'm always pulling for the guy. He's just such a head case

Tiger claiming he is loving the way the greens are putting at Kiawah. Full of shite? Who knows.

From what I've heard, the analysts are saying it's like bermuda greens without the grain.
I wonder if the wind will be blowing all week there.

all the condos are before the second gate on kiawah (middle of the island). The Ocean Course is the very last sign of civilization on the eastern tip of the island.

Adam Scott said this will be like playing two courses, the front nine they can score on,but the back nine is brutal.
Posted on 8/6/12 at 8:41 pm to TT9
The front nine is set more back in the maritime forest/marsh area with only the 7th, 8th, and 9th beginning to really get close (relatively speaking) to the ocean where the winds pick up. However the entire back nine is wide open exposed to the ocean winds.
From the several rounds I have played at the course, I usually score/play below handicap early on holes 1-5. I play more above my handicap as I get out in the wind on holes 6-9/10, but as I begin to figure out the wind on any given day I can score again on holes 10/11-13. However from 14 back to the club house where its a 180 degree turn to the direction you had played the last 9 holes and the course gets right out along the beach, it gets "fun."

the course looks like it's in phenomenal shape

I caddied there for two summers when I was in college. The course on its own isn't too demanding. It's pretty generous off the tee. Main thing will be the wind. If there's no wind these guys will eat it up. That's why there are so many tee boxes. If there is no wind then length is the defense mechanism Dye put in. I played it again about a month ago and it was in the best shape I've seen it which is impressive considering how hot it has been recently.
I'll take Kuchar this week. He's due for a major.

I've been hearing that over par will likely win. What do you think if they play the course around 7600 yards and it gets breezy?
Posted on 8/6/12 at 10:01 pm to Cosmo
Love this course. Fairway bunkers dont really come into play much but the ones on the side the fairways will if the wind picks up. Caddies were telling us if the wind blows like it was then for 2-3 rounds, over par wins. Greens were really firm but Im guessing with the thunderstorms they will be pretty soft by the weekend. 7700 yards is a long arse way. We only played it at 7100.

What was this for? PGA Club Pro Championship?

Fairway bunkers
Don't they treat all sand at the ocean course as waste areas? Meaning, you can ground your club, move lose impediments, etc?
