Commentators are mad mad about the Hatton/Scheffler/DeChambeau group being aggressive off the 10th tee. Bryson is 10 yards from the green in fairly short grass, and they are still mad and complaining it's the wrong play. Like it offends them if people decide to be aggressive on their courses.

The wind/weather is certainly very friendly right now.

I don’t think I’ve noticed a flag blowing any harder than just a gentle breeze would make it on any normal day in the States. Doesn’t look very “Open-y” at all yet.

Scores seem to be worse coming in. Not sure if that’s the greens getting harder due to the sun or if the back is just playing more difficult than the front.

Helluva tee shot on that par 3 15th. Let’s see if his putter can get him back to T2 here.

Scottie throws a 206 yard dart to within 10 feet. Hatton and Bryson both missed the green by 25+ yards (ish). And they all walk away with pars.

And instead of taking the solo lead at -5 into the clubhouse, little known American golfer Alex Smalley doubles the 18th to finish at -3 and a current T3. Tough break.

The commentators keep trying to emphasize how important hitting the fairway is and that’s just not the case.

Think there’s going to be a lot of complaining about the rough not being punishing enough this week.

All Opens do with no wind and no rain.

Plus dried out rough that isnt much of an issue to hack out of

Yeh true. Every year the little leprechaun and posh British media act like the open is a true test of a golfer and tricky blah blah blah when it’s really a goat ranch and easy

The open has a unique way of pissing me off. They complain about the ball going too far but then do absolutely nothing to penalize guys who miss the fairway.

And all the R&A will talk about after is rollback, rollback, rollback.

Only time they struggle is carnoustie with nor'easter conditions

Yeh, maybe don’t make your fairway a runway with 100 yard rollouts and no penalty
