You mean Phil? ETA: DJ currently playing better than Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, Sam Burns, Theegala
Ok?

These announcers are some beta mofos. Geez, give it a rest. We know cautious play is the way to go.
But somebody has to be the alpha

1/16 of the way into the tournament and the Open has already been better than the PGA Championship.
Nah, the PGA had one of the best Sunday rounds in recent memory. Multiple guys in contention, playing aggressive and scoring to win rather than just hanging on and hoping to not have a bad break.

Seems kinda premature to claim DJ is “retired” when he’s playing better in a major than other top players…

I know.
The hardest one for Scottie to win will be the Open Championship but I'm pretty confident he's going to have a US Open and PGA really soon. Not that that is some bold prediction, but he's just too good and even though Morikawa has a 2 to 1 advantage right now I think he's a little too streaky for me to put my money on him.
Though he's probably one of the few guys on tour right now that actually has a legit shot at winning the career slam.

500-1 from a casual? Ill take you on that all day
It wasn't a knock on Morikawa, I like him. It's just nobody is on Scottie's level so there's no way I'd bet against him.

It was a fun Sunday, I agree. It's just a little tough to watch guys eat alive a major championship course.

Easy to root for a guy like Daniel Berger.
He was ranked 25 in the world when he missed the cut in his last US Open in 2022

Yeah, I like a little bit more challenge from the course, but the head to head competition is really compelling.
Conditions had a lot to do with it as well. Get some rain and a softened course and these guys will tear any place apart.

Everytime we hear how impossible a course is going to be it never quite lives up

Was just thinking that but also the guys that are under par right now are just simply knocking down putts

No rain in the forecast anymore; if the scores go somewhat low, they'll dry the course out even more over the next couple days and look to crank up the pressure.
Pinehurst does have some very score-able holes as well. A few short ones and some pin positions that will give up a score if you can get close to the pin. This will probably be the easiest the course plays.

The USGA has become extremely soft and gives in to the whiners and complainers like Wyndham. Becoming an annual thing.

Not just based on today. DJ has been very apathetic since getting the bag, don’t blame him

Keeping it in the fairway is crucial to win here. That rough
Is basically unfair. And these greens are monsters. I would be stunned if anyone gets to 10 under.

I’ll reserve judgement until the afternoon but I definitely did not expect 10 guys -2 or better already.

Dude needs to learn how to play in majors.
And DJ having 1 top 25 in his last 6 majors is a pretty crazy stat to me.
