after A&M left to SEC, I cheered for Baylor, OSU, and Tech to make Texas and OU miserable.

Happened a few times.

In my college days, their fans were pretty awful, but most of their graduates are some of the best salt of the earth people that love their school.

Money has definitely made them much, much better in football. Of course, it's helped in basketball too. But the reality they have nailed two of the last 3 MBB hires with Texas guys from smaller programs (Beard and McCasland).

Texas was probably the only place that could take Beard from them (and did). As long as the NIL funds are flowing, it's hard to see McCasland leaving any time soon.

McCasland's wife went to grad school and played soccer at Tech where he met her. They genuinely love Lubbock and truly the only school I could see him leaving for is Baylor but Scott Drew essentially has a lifetime contract after raising Bayor from the dead and to a national championship. Love whats been created for Tech.

Jeff Linder is also his head assistant running the offense and is head coach quality but doesn't seem to want the stress of it, he enjoys hanging with one of his best friends and coaching championship basketball as opposed to focusing on Wyoming or Northern Colorado. I really think the final four this year if they stay healthy.

allegedly they wanted to hire MCCasland earlier but players were going to jump ship if Adams wasn't the head coach.

As bad the students could be, I’d still love to play Tech again out of conference in football. Especially now that they’re a contender, as the game could have some real stakes some years. The atmosphere and intensity on and off the field would be great and their alums are generally awesome people

You do know that Ohio State would absolutely boat race Texas Tech, right? Watching all these little teams get killed in the playoffs will be good for a solid week of nothing but sports talk radio about how the playoffs are too expansive.

The team with a top 2 NIL/athletics budget and a longer pedigree of paying players is probably going to win the game?! I'm shocked. They also don't seem to mind looking the other way when an assistant coach physically abuses their spouse. I guess thats what it costs to win.

Tech would also curb stomp Ohio State in basketball
