Setting up for a great finish here between Randle and SOC.

Oh man that was intense
Kid hooked it on the FG to tie it at the gun and Randle wins it
Such a more better game than freaking Indiana/notre dame

Yup. Glad I switched over.

I expect tomorrow to be very “white”.
Highland Park
Smithson Valley
Southlake Carroll
Austin Westlake
Austin Vandegrift
…and then there’s North Crowley lol

North Crowley used to be white but now they get a lot of the blacks from South Fort Worth and the Everman area
Seriously they were always a sleeping giant it's just Aledo recruited away all their best players. Current coaching staff said no more.

I’ve never actively rooted against a specific school every year except Aledo.

I think North Shore is like more than twice the size of Galena Park HS. That’s so strange. Most places would redraw some lines to get a balance.
It would be impossible based on geography: Galena Park (the city and HS) are south of the Houston Ship Channel while North Shore is north of it (thus, the name).

North Texas districts seem OK with growing existing campuses, which means that small towns that are absorbing DFW expansion are bigger than they used to be. Urban Dallas drops off as a result.
Valiant effort by Oak Cliff. Kicking wide left as the clock runs out is a heartbreaker.
And they lost to a high school that's about 3 years old from Fort Bend Lamar Consolidated District, Southwest of Houston. Like were discussing earlier with new schools being competitive quickly.

I bet it sucks too for kids who would be good enough to start at a lot of other high schools
That scenario isn’t talked about a lot, but that’s a major factor in the declining participation rates at the HS level.
The number of HS players in Texas has actually grown over the last few years, but the participation rate has dropped about 15%. When every new 5A/6A school opens their doors, it adds a hundred or so football participants to the state total, but it also adds a few thousand students to the “non-participant” column.

Hmm…those kids didn’t just show up on paper. They just came over from other schools.

Shadow Creek won 5A in their first or second year playing varsity.
Bridgeland was also making deep playoff runs not long after it opened.
Some others off the top of my head:
Tomball Memorial
College Station
Montgomery Lake Creek
San Antonio Johnson
Austin Vandergrift
Katy Jordan went 9-2 this season, their first year of varsity, but lost in the first round. I expect Katy Freeman will be the same whenever they start competing since they are siphoning off some of the talent that would have gone to Paetow. They were undefeated as a JV team this season.

Just noticed that the Highland Park game and the SMU game are on at the same time. Probably some conflicted folks there.

Iowa Colony made a deep run this year. Lost in OT to Randle two weeks ago.

Gotcha, I totally missed that.

Some others off the top of my head:
Pieper went undefeated, beating Smithson Valley along the way, before losing in overtime to Flour Bluff in the 2nd round.

aledo has been taking kids from all over for a long time. soc recruits heavier than anybody. duncanville is open enrollment. a lot of schools in the south side recruit. just the way it is.

Another great game here compared to the garbage CFP.
