I remember saying a couple years back that Coric was one of the only guys I could remember that seemed to always be a better player than the previous time I watched him, but I can't find the post.

Here's the court speed article LINK
I sorted it by level. And below that I sorted it by court speed. Got a kick out of "Mother Nature"

I know the humidity plays a factor in Flushing Meadows and used to be a huge deal in Key Biscane. It's obviously nonexistent in Indian Wells.
You don't win the US Open without being really fit these days. Even on the women's side, the last time Serena won it was 2014.

There's no shame in these results.
2014 - At 18 made it through qualies and won a main draw match
2015 - Took a set off Rafa
2016 - Retired
2017 - Beat Zverev in R2 and lost to Big Kev
2018 - Beat Medevedev and lost to Delpo in R16
2019 - Walkover
2020 - Epic comeback* vs. Shitsi and lost to Zverev in QF
2021 - Injured
2022 - Huge improvement in serve. Guess we'll see.
* Was down 5-1 in 4th set and 0-30 on serve and won 7-5

Zverev is out for U.S. Open. I haven't seen much on Djokovic. I assume he is out. Thiem, Querrey, J.J., Shelton, and Venus are getting wild cards. I believe the draw is Thursday. I will probably be out of pocket with no wifi from Thursday to Sunday, so if one of you gents wants the thread, go for it.

Shelton is leaving Florida to go pro. Wonder who the top "amateur" player is now. I've seen some Twitter smoke about Ethan Quinn, but he also just lost the UTSA Boys 18 Championship (and the US Wild Card that goes with it.)
I don't think it will take Shelton long to be one of the top US players.
Liking this Quinn kid already. Just beat Escobedo (who, to be fair, is one of the worst Americans on tour) as a +150 dog in Qualifying 1st Round.

Last weekend. Borna Coric won the title only dropping 1 set along the way (to Nadal).

Back to the 90% of tennis that few people follow.
Really weak field in San Diego this week. Jenson Brooksby is the #2 seed... And Dan Evans is #1.

MV where’s the Bottom 10 CFB thread? I might have to start one in your honor if you don’t.

Zverev opens the press con with a Personal statement: He will not participate in this weeks Davis Cup. Probably practiced too much. Says he has a bone edema (checks already made) : "It causes me a lot of pain since yesterday" Says he will be out "weeks or months not days"

Looking to fade Emma again tonight. Wish I could get that +333 at Bet365 but we don't have them here yet. Debating if I still want to play +300 or just take the spread. Maybe both.
ETA: And +5 pushes because Wickmayer couldn’t hold to get to a breaker. Emma still sucks.

Can’t say I saw Stan beating Medvedev.

Fed/Nadal vs. Sock/Tiafoe should be fun tomorrow.

Some people are thinking the match might be sort of scripted for Roger/Rafa to win in 3 sets, and I can’t say I disagree with the logic. It is an exhibition after all. You can find +300 or better on them winning 2-1 too.
