Good for him. Glad we kept Olympics out of our fantasy season.

Citi Open sold out for Wednesday, but I may try to see what I can snag on CL/stubhub.

Rafa looked a bit limited in his movement, but played a great third set tiebreaker to win it.

Yeah, if I were MidnightVibe, I would not unload for tickets tomorrow. I had figured Rafa would shut it down early in one of these three consecutive weeks, anyway. Maybe he pushes through this week and skips Canada or Cincinnati.

He rarely plays Cincy lately. Always pulls out late.

I think Rafa will go hard in Toronto and ripcord on Cincinnati.

Brooksby is the new crafty player of the day.

Genie is doing well in the studio. I don't want her to replace Mary Carillo on NBC, but my god, ESPN -- sign her and watch men across the country tune in and fall in love.

I watched the Sock match. He was not at his top level for sure.

That's crazy that Mcdonald and Paire play each other again so quickly.

eta: Mackie with the crazy jump from rank #107 to #64 with the 300 point haul this weekend.

The Sinner and McDonald final was great. Rafa out of Toronto.

No Novak, Rafa, or Roger at Toronto or Cincinnati. I think Rafa and Roger won't play the U.S. Open. Nole will because of what is on the line, but I think he is a mess physically and mentally.

This may be the end for federer. I don’t like him but sad news for tennis none the less.

They talked a little about live betting being potentially beatable, which would seem to make sense. It’s basically just an algorithm that uses historical data from previous matches to come up with odds on the fly. You would just need to find its weaknesses (easier said than done, of course).

For example, would an algorithm know that certain players are better at breaking back after being broken? Probably. Would it know that guys like Paire are more likely to tank a set when they get down a break or two? Maybe to some extent. What about things like extreme fatigue or injuries happening in real time? Definitely not

I concur. Live betting is definitely beatable with good algorithms. But, as you noted, implementing a real-time system to produce odds that would give you an advantage is very VERY far from a trivial endeavor.

I’m guessing there are people or groups currently beating the live-betting markets and we will hear about it at some point in the future.

I don't think Rafa will play in the US Open. I suspect he's done for the season. We'll know soon enough.
