Here's another example of how fragile the world is around ranking #100. Tommy Paul is apparently just outside of making the 250 tournament this week (draws were probably made before his last little surge up to #88). So he is the #1 see at the challenger event-
Winner of the whole tournament gets $14k
Compare that to just making the main draw ($9k) at the 250 event-
Or better yet, a chance at $160k for the winner.

$520 for losing in 1st round
I don't even want to know what that pays in Futures events.

Forehand: Roger
Is this universally accepted? Because my answer is Delpo. Yeah I know Roger has more consistency and variety, but Delpo went through stretches where he won high-level ATP matches with basically no backhand.

Daniil beats Coric 6-3, 6-1 to win St. Petersburg.

Delpo's is harder, but it's flat. Roger can do more with it.

Novak is still #1 in the world with 9,865 ATP points.
Rafa is #2 with 9,225 ATP points.
But those two will likely swap spots during the next tournament that Rafa plays this calendar year. Rafa has zero points to defend. Novak has a shipload. I don't feel like counting them up, but 2,000 seems like a fair estimate. This is consistent with the race rankings, where Rafa leading by 1,960 points.
If this holds true -- so, basically if Rafa plays any of the fall events at all -- he'll end up with his 5th year-end #1 ranking, tying Jimbo, Smug, and Novak. Pistol Pete has 6.
Rafa will still almost certainly retire, though, with [only] the 6th most weeks at #1. Connors has him by 72 weeks. He's not getting there.

It will also be interesting to see if Rafa realy goes all-out to try and win the YEC. He has never won that, and many argue that this is significant hole in his resume.
I actually disagree, as I don't think the players have ever been terribly concerned with the significance of that event. Or so I've heard.

Nole takes Tokyo and Thiem takes Beijing. Alex was looking great early on against tsetse yesterday, I'm surprised he lost. It looks like Rafa is out of Shanghai, but most of the big guns will be there.
