Something I haven’t seen mentioned is how Felix has played a ton of clay events in his short career, which is rare for North Americans, and could be a big reason for his success. When Kyrgios is playing video games and practicing tweeners, this dude is grinding in random South American countries learning the nuances of the sport.

So many Euro trash chicks on tour. Pliskova is almost too dirty for me, but I do love Aga.

Interesting call there with Felix, cracka. I thought the clay court seasoning might help Donaldson, but he just isn't good enough. I'd love to see Felix v Foe or Shapo in the final.

Didn't realize how much Autistic J played on clay (58 matches), but Felix has already played 104 by age 18. And he's 71-33 so he's not out there just to practice.

I think Jared even moved down there as a kid or something. I seem to remember Safin and Murray went to Barcelona as kids. Maybe the answer is to ship your kid to Sanchez/Casal, not IMG.
The making of Andy Murray.

also - and the great great Rafael Nadal has said this too - clay court tennis requires patience and suffering to win. 2 excellent traits for tennis in general. Americans(typically) wanna hit a big serve followed by a big forehand and thats it

Yeah and those traits prepare you for the mental grind too.

And the ranking points can be easier to obtain. When you play a 250 in Marseille or Delray Beach, you face a handful of guys in the top 20, whereas tournies like Sao Paulo or Cordoba you might see a Fognini or a Busta and a bunch of weaker players.

Meet the new face of #nextgen tennis: 18 yo Felix Auger Aliassime. Let us pray that he does not meet the "15 minutes of fame" fate of Chung Hyeon. This boy good.

I guess Anderson +360 was not the play?

Shapo about to close out Foe.

Well, Anderson made it respectable in the second.

Thread hijack. MV, what are these Vols basketball games (Iowa and Purdue) doing to your ticker?
