For WG is deciding he is going pro and won’t play in his bowl. What a pussy and understand that’s the tread but if I’m an NFL team I’m looking for a guy not named WG

why though?

WG's decision plainly says that he puts NFL preparation above college exhibition.

so why would an NFL team hold that against him?

People who defend this crap don't seem to realize it will spread.

You're going to have guys quitting 2-3 games into the season after their team drops a game or two.

Is it their right to do that? Sure. Is it a selfish, POS move that totally goes against the idea of teamwork and commitment to team goals? Absolutely.

It probably won't stop an NFL team from drafting them, but it tell you something about their character.

Anyone who talks shite about 21-22 year old kids for not playing in a bowl game when they are looking at a guaranteed 8 figure contract is seriously a moron.

If it was your son, and he wasn’t playing for the national championship, how could you even think about letting him play in a non-championship bowl game?

What if it were you?

ETA: 8 figure, not 10 figure

The guy who just won the Heisman Trophy has a million dollar baseball contract and risked it to play an entire season

Baseball contracts are fully guaranteed and he worked it out with the Oakland front office.

He didn't risk shite regarding this contract.

If your team goals are national championship or conference championship and you lose 2-3 games early in the year what’s the chances of you completing that team goal.

Agents are behind this...and it's gonna become a lot more commonplace.

college exhibition

Bowl games aren't an exhibition any more than the very large majority of regular season games.

Just the message the youth of America need. If you don't get exactly what you want, you should just instantly quit.

Well, we aren't winning the national championship this year guys, let's just all quit and forfeit the rest of the season.

We'd be down to what, 10 teams by October?

As a WVU grad and fan I think it would be stupid if he DID play in the meaningless bowl game. Plus his left tackle isn't playing as well for the same reason. If you aren't in the playoffs then why would you play in basically an exhibition game if you have the potential to be drafted in the first round?

The sheer number of bowl games has rendered the bowl games meaningless.

If it takes top players sitting for the ncaa to expand the playoff then so be it.

Why does the national championship change anything?

Would you really fault Quinnen Williams if he sat out the CFP? He’s going to be a top 10 draft pick.

A thousand times THIS.

The current “playoff” is not much better than the BCS, only we’ve added ever changing criteria analyzed by a collection of stooges to determine who gets to go.
