It doesn't matter.. as much as XIV wants to bash Tech he can't defend the lack of attendance at ULM's games.. there is just not interest in seeing them play. Hate it, but they are in HUGE risk of not meeting D-1 attendance minimums this year and will probably be forced out of D-1 and back to D1-AA class. It is a shame their attendance has been so bad especially since this is probably the best year they have had since entering D-1 football.

ULM is better than Tech. You don't get points for attendance.

Tell that to NCAA when ULM doesn't make their attendance minimums this year.

I wonder if he realized how many freshmen were playing tonight. Tech had 4 TRUE freshmen in the secondary because of injuries. They are down to only 2 wrs now (livas is hurting) that were on the lineup at the start of the season.
And that enterprise campus they have just started will be really nice.

This will never happen. Not even sure if it's still a rule. If it is, I seem to recall that if you have a less than 15,000 average in one season, you have a probation season the next year to average greater than 15,000. I could be totally wrong, just going off a sketchy memory.

Very true. But still time to improve the average. As I have said repeatedly, Monre SUCKS when it comes to supporting ULM. Embarassingly so.

I don't think any ULM fan here is arguing academics. It would be foolish of them to do so.

Techs avoidance of ULM has gotten them a 3-6 record this year instead of a 2-7 record. We can say that much. Great decision on Tech's part. There is a huge difference between 3-6 and 2-7.

Correct, ULM will schedule Arky in Little Rock and call it a 'home game'. 50,000 Arkansas fans will prop up their little program another year.

It's called creativity. The NCAA doesn't have problem with it.

I think ULM is safe. They draw about 4 times as many fans as Tulane (4,000 to 1,000) and Tulane doesn't even have a sugar daddy deal with Arkansas. I don't think the NCAA even enforces this rule.

I don't think the NCAA even enforces this rule.
If the rule is to be a hard arse and drop any school who ever has a season of less than 15K/game attendance, Wyoming would have been gone a few years ago, as would most of the Sun Belt and MAC, and even Duke a couple years ago. I wonder if it's a democratic thing? Like, if you dip below 15K, you're put to a vote or something?

"20.9.6.3 Football-Attendance Requirements. Once every two years the institution shall average at least 15,000 in actual attendance for all home football games.
"20.9.6.3.1 Counting Attendance. For purposes of computing attendance figures an individual may be counted if any one of the following conditions applies:
"(a) Attendees are issued tickets that are collected upon admission to the game and retained;
"(b) Attendees enter through and are counted by a turnstile accuracy of the count on a per-game basis; or
"(c) Attendees enter through a gate at which a representative of the department of athletics counts them individually with a manual counter, and the representative provides a written statement verifying the accuracy of the count on a per-game basis.
20.9.6.3.2 Certified Audit. In meeting the football-attendance requirements of Division I-A, an institution must undertake an annual certified audit verifying its football attendance. The audit must be conducted by an outside auditing firm. The audited football paid-attendance figures must be received in the NCAA national office not later than the February 15 following the completion of the football season and NCAA national office staff shall verify compliance with all I-A attendance requirements. The certified audit and materials (including the ticket manifest) must be available for inspection for a four-year period.

Sounds like you get a mulligan every two years.

Once again, the weather has been horrible for every ULM game this year. We will find out this weekend if Monroe supports this team.

Live together or hang together. Now more than ever state schools need to work together

That's the beauty of the home and home with Arkansas. NLU gets to live another day until that contract runs out. But like I said, I really don't think they are enforcing this rule. I think there would be a lawsuit if they forced a hardship on a conference due to attendance.

Very true. ULM met all requirements to move to IA. Not exactly fair to change the rules now. But it is the NCAA, who knows what they will/will not do.

Yeah, I brought it back from pg 11
ulm would have folded flat against LSU. Tech comes close to beating LSU with most starters hurt/injured/out.
