you're supposed to grab the ball after a TD? pretty sure they'd throw a flag for that

The ref signaled a TD. Why would he give a touchback? It goes both ways

If the defensive player had gone and touched the ball after the called TD and whistle blowing it could have been considered illegal touching and delay of game.

The refs blew the call on that play twice and TCU suffered.

total freaking BS>

I will look up and post the NCAA definition of fair catch and ruling on fumble into EZ later and post results.

If anything, it should be a replay of the down. Giving a touchback makes no sense. It would just be making something up for the sake of doing it.

completely agree with pollack here. if you're too dumb to hold the ball until you are in the end zone, you don't deserve the ball back

I don't know the rule, but I'm predicting the refs screwed up. That was too fricked up to be genuine.

Can the 3rd stringer really be worse at throwing the ball than Boykin? Dude is a mess. He definitely looks like a running back trying to play QB.

no way.

if you are too dumb to carry the ball across the line you give up a touchback.

he let go of the ball and it was whistled dead in the end zone.

offense doesn't deserve to be given a gift if they do that.

It may have to do with the ball being fumbled forward. If the fumble occurred at the 1/2 yard line, it must be brought back to the point of the fumble.

I think the ruling is right when he fumbled forward in the endzone. If the ball fumbled out of the endzone then it would have been a touchback. But since no one advanced the ball, it is ruled dead at the spot of the fumble.

No doubt. No doubt TCU will not get anything close called their way.

I thought there was a bad spot in the first half that cost TCU a first down... and then they got stuffed on fourth.

TCU goes right down the field for a td by running up the gut and don't try it the 1st two plays of this drive, pretty smart.

Why not just give TCU the touchdown then, if we're just randomly making up punishments?

If it's whistled dead, it should have been a touchdown. Not TTU's fault the refs fricked up.

This. All day long this. There was no clear change of possession so the fumble forward rule takes precedence.
