No way De La Hoya is anywhere close to Mayweather in pound for pound talks.
But yet he went all 12 rounds? with him, 1 year before retiring and Mayweather was in his prime????

Of course all of them were much bigger than Mayweather too..
Duran started his career under 110 and was at his best at 135=140 as far as dominating opponents.
He started gathering losses as he went up in weight and got older and by the time he retired he had campaigned in the 170+ range for a few fights. That's a hell of a leap from the beginning to end of his career.

Moral victory....but still a loss.

Duran started his pro career at Lightweight (130 lbs)
But you are right that him and Mayweather are close to the same size.
But that is moot when talking about Mayweather v. De La Hoya

At the time I thought it was just like tiger v phil ppv golf match coming up.
Delahoya was already past his prime.
As for best ever, some spectacular hitters were on tv in the 50s when I was still at home. Sugar ray Robinson
Sugar ray is rated #1 boxer all time.
He was welter champ 6 years.
Middleweight champ in 50s. 128-1-2 when he took middleweight.
Went up to lightheavy in his old age. Darn fool had an entourage. Fought 25 years.
Struggled financially after career.
Alas. .
Look at Jake lamotta v sugar ray.
Also, wtf are people forgetting sugar ray Leonard. Fast as any but with power.

Like I said De La Hoya doesn't even land in the top 30 all time P4P.
Off the top of my head (not in any order):
Ray Robinson
Benny Leonard
Willie Pep
Ray Leonard
Marvin Hagler
Roberto Duran
Archie Moore
Ali
George Foreman
Marciano
Harry Greb
and even in the last 30 years he is behind (not in any order):
Tyson
Lennox Lewis
Evander Holyfield
Roy Jones Jr
Bernard Hopkins
Mayweather
Felix Trinidad
Pernell Whitaker

Seems we're both wrong. Duran's first fight was 2/23/68 at 119 lbs. It was at least a dozen fights later that he fought at 130 according to Box Rec.

I remember ordering that dumb fight. De La Hoya beat Mayweather. He pressed the action the whole fight. All Mayweather did was counter punch and run, then run some more. The aggressor should get the benefit, unless he is hurt, knocked down or out. I think De La Hoya threw over 100 punches more and was always moving forward. I just didn't get it.
By your statement, you are correct, and you dont know shite about boxing.

Floyd at 130 was damn near unbeatable. People forget or don't realize how great he was at that weight and long before he became PPV Money Mayweather.
While Oscar was also a damn good boxer-puncher, he wasn't on Floyd's level if we're comparing them at their absolute best.

Are you talking to the poster or Sugar Shane Mosley?
Because it was Mosley's assertion according to the quotes in OP.

Shane is hilariously wrong here, but that's okay. I'll always love him for destroying Antonio Margarito.

Isn't it odd how Margarito was not the force to be reckoned with after being found to have a plaster like substance in his wraps prior to that fight????
He lost badly to Mosely, who at the time of the fight was a 4-1 underdog. Then he goes on to fight the rematch with Miguel Cotto and gets hammered enough to not finish the fight. Then attempts to go against Pacquaio and gets hammered again for 12 rounds.
Take away that plaster and he was just an opponent.

Mother of god.
Check compubox and get back with an update.
DeLahoya did like he always did in every big fight, come up a little short.
He tried to coast and it caught him
Mosley is just doing this to make himself look better as he beat delahoya and lost to floyd
