Cool.
When everyone is jealous of you it means you're doing well.

Well it's Notre Dame....they have sprinkles of fans everywhere.... The Steelers of CFB. Plus, nobody likes the open perception of buying a Natty and Ohio State's Steve Austin team...X3, not 6 milliom, not 12 million, not 18 million....the LeBron James of CFB programs.

It's actually much different than LeBron and the Heat.

Nearly all of the starters for Ohio State came there as freshmen. The money was used to retain them from entering the draft.

I'll definitely give OSU that and will say that it's primarily retention-driven; it's the smart way to do it, and the better run NIL programs are doing mostly that. Still, Downs, Judkins, and Howard couldn't have been cheap. But I am sure guys like Henderson, Egbuka, JTT, Sawyer, etc. aren't cheap to keep.

ND has mostly taken the same approach. This team likely wouldn't have had Watts, Morrison, Cross, and some others who have been with the program 3+ years without NIL. Jeremiyah Love and Leonard Moore are going to be ultra-expensive this offseason. I don't know where these "total NIL pool" rankings come from, but I don't ever see ND in the top 10 or 20 which just can't be true with the numbers being thrown out - I wonder if us being private keeps that kind of information from getting out (similar to how you never hear what the full coaching salary is; there were some clowns on here before Kelly left for LSU that he was making something like $4 - 5M / year at ND which is absurd).

I don't think we'll be in the market for a QB this offseason - not sure what you all are looking at. It'll likely be the first non-transfer QB we'll start since Drew Pyne and Tyler Buchner in 2022.

criticism for how much NIL money OSU used to build their roster (around 20 million dollars).

I would think ND has spent a lot of money as well. Being private they might be able to hide it better.

Before the school did or put out a lot of liberal stuff I used to see a lot of Catholics almost feel obligated to like ND. It’s probably still like that for many.

Freeman is likable, but there is also a push by the typical white liberal females and many blacks to push anything black to win a college football championship for first time even though he is half Asian and downplays the whole race card crap to focus on his team when asked (which then makes him even more likable to others).

Ohio State also still stinks of Urban Meyer, and Ryan just always looks so strange that it makes him comes across as being a weirdo.

Like having a Trump Supreme Court nominee be an alum and beloved professor?

Or being the first major elite university in the country to open back up to in person learning during Covid ( link)?

Come on.

It's likely that we go with redshirt freshman Julian Sayin next year. Our backup is in the portal (but still with the team for the title run).

I don't know what NIL Sayin got, he left Bama when Saban retired and likely mostly came here because of his relationship with Bill O'Brien (OC for like 2 months ).

Surprised South Carolina isn’t one of them with all the Ohio transplants

Nowhere near enough to outweigh the natives and other transplants who can't stand them (me among them).

Though I may check out Carolina Butcher and Beer Garden for the first half of the game Monday (the local OSU watch location).

Ohio State winning just seems like one of those every ten year things we must deal with- I'd be pretty indifferent to it. The idea of Notre Dame winning is sickening. I can't be the only one who feels this way
