The name derived from the "sooner clause" of the Indian Appropriation Act, which stated that no one should be allowed to enter and occupy the land prior to the opening time and that such people would be denied rights to illegally claimed land.Some sooners crossed into the territory illegally at night and were originally called "moonshiners" because they entered "by the light of the moon." These sooners would hide in ditches at night and suddenly appear to stake their claim after the land run started, hours ahead of legal settlers

Don't want a team to run it up? Play some frickin' defense.
I'm all about not running it up against a Sun Belt team, but against a conference opponent? Everything is fair game. Suck it up. Learn to tackle. What's the guy supposed to do? Fall down untouched so he doesn't score? Isn't that showing OSU up?

When we beat Cincy 81-0 a few years back I heard the same crap about it being "classless" until everyone found out the Cincy coaches apologized to Joe for not being able to be more competitive against us.
I realize there are some real douchebag coaches out there but even though they scored 61 points they only won by 20. 21-0 is a bigger spread.

there's nothing wrong with what they did.. it's not classless.. however i feel if they ended on a knee it would have been real smooth.. i also agree losing to a kneel down is the most frustrating thing..

I hate hate HATE Penn St, but I remember that game, and JoePa had a great point: he put in his third stringer to actually play, he read a run defense and audibled to a deep pass to exploit the defensive call. The kid was learning how to run an offense.

ending on a kneel down when you have a 2 possession lead show's you owned those bitches..

if you dont want to get scored on, get better, its that simple. they ran a simple off tackle play, and osu couldnt make the tackle

wtf? you knew, if given the opportunity they would score again. it's all about style points dipshit. so they got lucky on a running play? the next play could have very well been a passing play.

The argument is stupid. It was a run. And since they are fighting for the MNC, then they should run the score up.
Plenty of voters don't watch every game, so the score does matter.

they scored with 25 seconds left on the clock, that was the LAST PLAY of the game
