Uhhh... No. But your real life understanding of golf pre tiger as being boring, out of shape, CPAs is informed by your 8 year old mentality
Once again, I clarified slob was the wrong word, because I dont think they were out of shape

quote:

Even at the height of tiger's golf, most 8 year olds found golf boring.
Disagree

That is the age those kids started playing golf becaue of tiger
quote:

Your lack of logic and goal post shifting in this thread is hilarious to watch.

I havent shifted once

Not once

I only clarified after post one slob was the wrong word

I have remained steadfast in my point that after jack arnie and tom, golf went through a stretch that lacked personality and excitement until Tiger brought it back and changed the game

Curry is the exception to the rule but make no mistake, he works on his golf game and has played consistently since his youth building a solid foundation.. he isn’t some random elite athlete who picked up the game later in life.. I’d really like to see someone like Larry Fitzgerald focus heavily on golf when his career is over and see what happens..

Just know that the bubble you have lived in gives you a distorted sense of reality.

Really?

You dont think tigers peak had young kids interested in golf?

I was 9 when it started, and it was huge in my circle

TheCaterpillar, am I off base here?

You were my age, when we were 9 and Tiger took off do you not feel like kids were locked in on golf and Tiger?

More than ever, but still most 8 year olds found golf boring.

Tiger was big in the upper middle class country club circles... I'm shocked.

Nope. Didn't care about golf until college.

I never have belonged to a country club in my life

I was a middle class white person that played sports

The circle of friends I was in (kids that liked sports) became hooked on Tiger and golf. We went from being baseball and football junkies that couldnt care less for golf, to being locked in

I think the kids that had in interest in sports that had once found golf boring, no longer did

I assume that is what we are arguing correct?

Maybe I am wrong, but that is sure how it felt from my 9 year old eyes

The one Travis Tritt ran

My dad would rather kick his own arse then join a country club

I think everybody agrees this happened for a lot of young kids, as well as people of all ages really.

Because you said you were alive in 1995 and could testify as to how boring and vanilla golf was. You were 8! Lol

I was old enough to remember

"On the tee, is john wellington, III."

"You know bob, I really love his ability to drive the ball 250 and shoot a round of 68 while never once giving the crowd a reason to give a shite"

Also, at 8, I was old enough to realize mid 90s tennis was awesome and not boring

Now being 8 in the early 2000s would likely have made me want to die watching tennis

I was 8 in 1998.

I remember just about everything you could want to about the 98-99 baseball seasons.

And I watched golf more than I watched baseball.
