Last season was their year to win it.

This season, they were terrible after their 13-3 start and the injuries.

They managed to execute the 21st worst PP in NHL History this season. It's amazing they got this far.

IMO, this series loss is a blessing in disguise. Poile will have to shake the roster up and bring in someone who can put the fricking puck in the net.

And the Blues would probably have swept Nashville. They had the Preds number all season and are the best team in hockey right now.

Only players who played at expectation and skill level were Josi, Grimaldi, and Fabbro. Elkholm and Turris ruined any momentum the second they got on the ice. Hate the Preds season is over but they're lucky it lasted this long.

Preds may have most interesting off-season of any team, changes are needed but they're locked in with the cap space.

It was a terribly officiated game and the goal call was ridiculous. It was so bad, no one knew the reasoning until later (goalie interference, which makes no sense... an attacking player is allowed to go into the crease and make contract if the puck is free in the paint).

But Ovi is right... refs missed the call, but we move on. If you can't beat the Canes at home in a Game 7, you didn't deserve to advance anyway. And the refs didn't give up the fourth goal., which essentially iced the game. The refs didn't play that miserable second period with virtually no offensive pressure.

Congrats to the Stars. That was awesome Bishop was insane.

ETA: Here is the overhead view of the no-goal. Remember, the issue is NOT that the whistle blew. The refs said this is goalie interference on a live puck. I... I just don't see the case for that call.

Certainly biased but I think Dallas is going to give Nashville some serious problems. Stars goaltending combined with Preds special teams issues should make for an interesting combination in the playoffs. Zuccarello being back and healthy is the obvious X-factor for the Stars to be anywhere near a 2-line team but give me Hintz and Dickinson as guys who might make a little noise this series. Already got my tickets for games 3 and 4 here in Dallas. Give me Stars in 7 baby!

Shameless self-promotion bump after that OT victory last night. Time for a little revenge against St. Louis.

Guess the Dallas win last night shifted some folks’ interest into the sport. Just sold my extra winter classic tickets for like 3x what I got them for.

It's not like they rolled over and played dead. Ben Bishop kicked all kind of arse and made some incredible saves to hold them down. Bishop had to make 47 saves on 48 shots.

Also, Rinne had 49 saves on 51 shots. Not 50+.

It can't be that they played their asses off last night and Dallas just played slightly better?

You're acting like they get their asses beat in a game 6 that went 17 minutes deep into OT. That was an epic duel between two goalies having incredible nights.

So many people in Nashville are acting surprised. And I got so much hate in the regular season thread for saying Nashville wasn't going anywhere in the playoffs.

They just aren't very good. They gave Ellis and Turris awful contracts. They didn't ever seem to play with urgency until it was way too late. Outside of the goaltenders, everyone underperformed. I feel legitimately bad for Rinne. Can you imagine making 50+ saves on the road in a do or die game and your team not having your back?

I agree to an extent. IF Nashville had even a pulse for a PP, we could be talking about a different team and situation they find themselves in.

33/270 absolutely blows my mind. It's so bad, it's impressive. I've never been on the PL has to go train, but his comments about the PP woes this year was a fireable offense in itself. The strategy was never adjusted or changed. Yeah, let's work the puck around, fumble it, pass it back to the blue line and take a low-percentage shot by a d-men. Over the last month, Nashville could barely bring it in the offensive zone, much less score. The opposing defense never once had to maneuver their positions or were shifted out of position to the other side of the ice.

To your point, the Ellis contract may be one of the worst in the league. He can't skate anymore and absolutely got abused by Dallas.

Turris is soft as cotton. There's my rant.
