I guess the morality police have now decided to go to far.

That's what's so baffling. I mean, if there were precedent for this then it's one thing. But to make this judgment, in the playoffs, without precedent, for a word whose intent is very much up for interpretation, is absolutely baffling to me.

So what is next? Do we suspend Hitchcock, Q, and Trotz for cussing on their bench?

Only if it offends an "oppressed class"

But that's besides the point. He's being suspended a game for saying a word. I'm still not sure I'm taking crazy pills or not.

Did you see his actions during the game?

Flipping off the referee, fighting after the game had ended, along with his little outburst that was caught on national T.V.

Dude got every cent of earning his 1 game suspension, please tell us it was because of "saying that word alone" though. We don't live in a vacuum friend.

Then why aren't they suspending him for the gestures or shady play?

Ok, then I will. From the article

quote:

Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended one game and ordered to undergo sensitivity training after uttering an anti-gay slur from the penalty box to someone on the ice in Chicago's Game 4 loss at home to the St. Louis Blues.

quote:

Shaw was also fined $5,000 for "directing an inappropriate gesture" at the on-ice officials.

2 separate punishments. If you need me to spell this out for you - if he hadn't said f***** then he's looking at a nominal fine for flipping the bird.

Doesn't say "FOR" uttering an anti-gay slur dipshit, it says after. That's ESPN speculating at BEST.

It's the collection of his actions

I know you are mad that he's suspended for the rest of the playoffs, but relax, shite's already over.

Then why were there separate penalties? He received a suspension and a fine.

I want to believe you're not this dense but you're making it difficult.

I think a fine should have been enough but I understand why they suspended him. As a Blues fan having an unhinged Andrew Shaw running around taking stupid penalties would have been ideal in game 5 to be completely frank so Im not "happy" he is suspended.

Uh... a lot of stuff goes uncalled, including many of Shaw's actions. Having them in a desperate position where they are likely to try and injure people, I am quite happy Shaw will not be around to be one of those guys.

Meh. Blues were taking shots at Shaw all night as well trying to get him to lose his cool and it worked. Thats part of playoff hockey man. You dont shy away from that.

Is that Bill Clement!?!?!

Horrible use of a challenge yet with Toronto playing favorites so far might as well.

Laughton looked like the model for a murder scene tape job yet officials let play go.

No penalty either is correct call

Laughton on spine board and gurney. Must be loss feeling lower body as moved arms and alert

Things aren't that bleak for the Preds: Teams that win two on the road to open a first round series are 11-17 all-time in Gm3. Only 9 times out of 28 have they lost the series.
There's stats, but then there's just the inevitable. You knew Anaheim wasn't going to be as flat as they were in the first two games all series long. If Anaheim wasn't THAT much better than the Preds, I'd agree. But I still think Nashville has to play out of their minds to win this series despite being a game up.

Philly with the W. Caps should pound them on Friday, but if not, maybe the sphincter starts tightening.

Well the caps played terrible tonight...can't really say I expected to sweep Philly. Hopefully the Caps bring it on Friday.

I'm still confused as to why Ferraro is doing NBC games. I think he does a good job and has very good insight, but he was TSN's prized guy I thought.

Ah, I'm like who is this familiar dude doing Pierre type duty? It was nice to hear Clement today.
