Stop being a homer Toad
Although I am not sure he isn't bad choice if he stays interested

This is why I have all but given up on hockey. A one game suspension for Orpik, maybe 2, but 3 is ridiculous.
Funny, when he played for Pittsburgh, he was just hard nosed, but now he plays for Washington, a predator.
Looking forward to more more calls against the Caps, and none for the Pens.
It is a shame that a generational talent like Ovie is going to be screwed over again.
If we get the calls against us tonight, I hope we start targeting the head of Sidney or Letang.

easy man easy. This series has been so tight I think you guys will be okay. As someone stated before Orpik wasn't having a great series anyways.

It's tough watching the calls that get made sometimes. Especially the timing of some of these calls that get made throughout the playoffs, timing is everything. As a fan, I just realize my team has to be twice as good to overcome these obvious odds.
The Lightning have had some calls go their way throughout their history, but more than not. They're usually climbing a steep mountain when trying to reach "The Cup" finals any given year. I find that an amazing stat for a team that puts so much offensive pressure on opposing teams lately. That's OK though, because any time the Lightning do make a deep playoff push. I know the chances of someone holding their hand on the way there is pretty slim. Especially in games 7's against the NHL's favorite children.
Go Lightning !!!!

If we accept the premise that a suspension for 1 playoff game is the equivalent of 2-3 regular season games, then this Orpik suspension is patently absurd, and wholly disproportional to the crime. Heck, there were only 11 suspensions ALL SEASON between 3-5 games. There is no way this hit was particularly violent. There was no charging (orpik only takes 1-2 strides into the hit), his feet never leave the ice, and its still a hockey play. There's a hit to the head with violence, and that is a suspendable hit, but the NHL treated this hit like it was one of the worst hits it has ever seen, and that's plainly untrue. If this hit was in the Sharks-Preds series, it gets 1 game, if any at all.
That said, WOO HOO!!! Is there any way we can make it five games to make sure Orpik can't play a potential Game 7 and is out for the whole series? Orpik has been the single worst player on either team in this series. He has been on ice for every Penguins goal save one, and he's been the player most responsible for the goal nearly every time. His 44.76% SA Corsi is the worst of any Caps defender in the postseason by over 6%, as no other player is in the minus. He's been fricking awful. And he's been getting huge minutes due to his veteran presence, so his awfulness is compounded.
This suspension helps the Caps because Brooks Orpik is playing just that horribly. It gets a guy who plays a ton of minutes, badly, off the ice.

Saw the final period of the Blues-Stars game. Switched it just in time to see Kenmark split through the Blues defense and score. Fun period of hockey for the Stars being down 3-1, even though they ended up losing.

Trotz sending a message and heating up the series even more
quote:
Trotz inferred that the Penguins received preferential treatment from the NHL, that Orpik’s punishment was bigger because the Penguins were the victims

Trotz also responded to NBC analyst Mike Milbury, saying it was “a joke” that Milbury called Orpik a “predator” during the Game 2 broadcast on Saturday

Let me get this straight...
Orpik is out and Fleury might play in goal for the Pens? The news keeps getting better!
